For my second Pass it On contest I have a few books that I've read with a common theme - they all are light reads with a guaranteed happy ending! I like to call them my "pallate cleanser" books. Sometimes you've been reading an intense book or a series (or even worse a bad book) and need to just kick back and read something fun to wipe the slate clean!
So here we go....the winner will get all of the following books:
When Mike Kissed Emma by Christine Marciniak
Smart Boys & Fast Girls by Stephie Davis
Something Borrowed (Simon Romantic Comedies) by Catherine Hapka
Take Me There by Susane Colasanti
To enter let me know what your favorite "palate cleanser/HEA" book is in the comment section!
Here are the rules!
•You must be 16 years or older to enter
•International entries OK
•All entries must be received by Sunday 4/18//2010 11:59 pm EST
•Tell me: What's your favorite HEA/Palate cleanser book
•Winner will be posted on this blog Monday 4/19/2010 - it is your responsibility to check back to see if you won.
•The winner has 7 days to email me with their address or I will pick another winner.

Fav HEA books? I often just pick up any book by a particular author. Lisa Kleypas' historical romances are just the thing for an overburdened mind, as are Susan Elizabeth Phillips' contemporaries. For palate cleansing, I like a happy story that doesn't simultaneously insult my intelligence--good writing is a must!
My favorite palate cleanser would have to be The Anything Box or Holding Wonder by Zenna Henderson.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite light-hearted book? I'm going with either Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine or Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. They both make me laugh through the writing & characters. : ) But I'm always so satisfied when the MCs end up together - as they should! ; )

I loooooove HEA books! That's why I read so many historical romances :) I'm not sure if the Gossip Girl series counts as having a happy ending but they sure are a guilty pleasure!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest, I love the Simon romantic comedies :)

ReplyDeleteFor a cleanser I always revert back to the classics...I'm a huge Austen fan so Pride and Prejudice is always my go to...I read it at least once a year!
My cleansing book would probably have to be Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella. It just makes me laugh and smile:)

Generally when I'm looking for light reading I pick up something horror or fantasy...something I don't really have to think about...a good example would be anything by Richard Laymon or perhaps a Marvel prose novel.
ReplyDeleteOld(ish) but still kind of new(ish) follower so that gets me an extra 1.5 entries?!? :)

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis, it's cute and a really light read, with the sweetest ending possible, although it does leave the way open for a sequel, so there's a few loose ends ... :)

My favorite HEA book (currently b/c it's always changing) is Perfect Chemistry. I just have it on the brain, but it's fabulous. Also, anything by Jennifer Echols puts a smile on my face. I love those books that make you go "AWWWW." :)
