Today we have Ashley stopping by. Go check out her blog where she not only reviews YA books and products but also shares her DIY projects.
Introduce yourself! My name is Ashley and I am the blogger behind Ashley Suzanne.
I started out as Ashley's Bookshelf and then decided that I wanted something other than books (yes, I know strange) so I simply turned my "bookshelf" into a craft site with occasional book showings, but then I came to my senses and realized that I loved books and reading far to much to stop cold turkey. Therefore I decided to just be myself and I created Ashley Suzanne, the place were I can be myself and share with others my true love of books and crafts.
How long have you been blogging?
I am not sure of the exact date, but my blogger post date back to January 10, 2010. So I would say little over a year.
How do you measure blogging success? Is it strictly number of followers or something more?
I personally measure blogging success through followers and how well the blogger communicates with their audience. For example if a blogger has over 1000 followers, but does not interact socially with their followers then I measure their success low, but if a blogger has only 200 followers and interacts socially with their readers then I rate it high and I am mostly likely going to follow their blog (understand?)
Karen: Got it! And I agree. Just because you have a lot of followers doesn't mean you have a relationship with them or that they come back consistently to read your reviews.
What genres/subgenres do you review, and what do you like best about those genres?
I have tried numerous genres in the past, but the only ones that I seem extremely interested in is young adult, the sub-genres would be fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi, etc. I like the simplicity of reading them. When I read it is for fun, not to increase my vocabulary.
What are you reading right now?
Right now, I just finished reading Vampire Prince by Darren Shan (I strongly encourage you all to read this series, Cirque du Freak, it is an amazing series), I will probably continue reading Firelight by Sophie Jordan soon.
Do you use social media to promote your blog or discuss reading/blogging? (include links to Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, etc)
Of course, I use all three! Goodreads, Facebook and Twitter. I also do the occasional pinning on Pinterest.
Ashley's little reading buddy.
Where is your favorite place to read?
In all honesty? The toilet. Only because it is the only place where I can get a little bit of piece and quiet behind a locked door. Plus when your in the bathroom it is about the only way that someone will leave you alone...most of the time. I also like to reading a hot bubble bath. Sometimes I feel like Kyle XY because he finds so much comfort in the bathtub (anyone remember that show?) :]
Karen: I do remember that show! And you must be a mom. The bathroom is a common answer for moms....lol *G* I wonder why??
What are your ideal reading conditions?
My ideal reading conditions? I like for it to be quiet usually with the fan going (so then it again it won't be quiet *smacks forehead*).
What are the top 5 books in your TBR (To Be read) pile?
Don't you mean the top 500? To narrow it down to five would be crucial torture, but anyway here are a few: Sister's Red, Wolfsbane, Hush Hush, Shiver, and Fallen.
Obligatory controversial question: Love triangles! Love ‘em or hate ‘em, and why?
I'm alright with triangles. I neither hate nor love them, but thery're cool.
What has been the best thing about blogging and reviewing books?
Meeting some of the nicest people ever and building the foundation for life long friendships (and of course the occasional free books are awesome :]).
Thank you Ashley!

HAHAHA. Thanks for this feature! The questions were so much fun to answer!
ReplyDeleteI am actually not a mom, but it means a lot that you think I am :] Hopefully in the near future. I do however have a younger sister and then my little reading buddy follows me everywhere (yes, even to the bathroom :])
