Q: The New Year is here — and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?
My resolution for 2012 is to to have more fun with blogging again. It has sort of become more like a job. My original intention was to talk about whatever I was reading, watching and listening to but now I spend most of my time reading review requests and responding to emails.
Don't get me wrong....I'm so thankful and LOVE all the opportunities blogging has given me but I really need to get back to the simple joy of reading whatever I want, not just whatever book is deemed "the next best book ever".
I want to blog because something has inspired me..... and not just to meet some self imposed schedule.
I have to try not to feel guilty and think there will be a mass follower exodus just because I didn't blog for a week. There are thousands of blogs out there. I don't think anyone even notices. lol
I want to find a way to introduce readers to new authors. Unfortunately I just don't have time to read and review every book that comes my way but I would still like to give the authors an opportunity to showcase their work. Interviews seem like the best idea but I'm horrible at them so maybe that's a skill I can work on for 2012.
Learning more html code would be nice. I have my DH to fix all my blog related emergencies which is great (thank you Kevin - love of my life ;-) ) but I really should know how to do some of these things myself.
I would love to find a streamlined way to write reviews and a rating system that better expresses what I'm feeling. I'm not sure that will be accomplished anytime soon though.
HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!
And a Happy New Year to you too. Your blog looks absolutely amazing.

Yes, a return to fun would be just the thing! :-) I feel the same way about wanting to give new authors a platform. Guest posts and interviews are probably the way to go, but finding those perfect questions can be tough.
ReplyDeleteI know you've been wanting to revamp your grading system for awhile, but I've always understood what you meant and I think you give each book a very fair treatment.
Have a happy new year and a happy third year of blogging! We will ring in the new blogging year with song and dance. Shorry, shorry, shorry, shorry...
Great goals, those sound really awesome - I hope that you do well with them, I bet you will do!
ReplyDeleteGood luck from a new follower :)
I would like to learn more code, as well. Thanks for stopping by. I'm a new follower!
ReplyDeleteI love your answer, and I feel the same way. I want blogging to be fun again. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy new year!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think it's really hard to have a great review system, there are always going to be ones that fall in between. I like your system- since it lets you be honest get your point across, whilst avoiding being rude or perhaps upsetting any authors.
ReplyDeleteHTML code... thank goodness I use blogger. If I didn't I swear I'd have to go on a kitten killing spree in order to feel anything again even if it would be self-loathing and crippling regret. I tried to HTML once. Never will I try again unless someone holds a gun to my head... and maybe not even then!
