Janet Gurtler: 16 Things I Thought Were True (Sourcebooks Fire, 2014)
Heart attacks happen to other people #thingsIthoughtweretrue
When Morgan's mom gets sick, it's hard not to panic. Without her mother, she would have no one—until she finds out the dad who walked out on her as a baby isn't as far away as she thought...
Adam is a stuck-up, uptight jerk #thingsIthoughtweretrue
Now that they have a summer job together, Morgan's getting to know the real Adam, and he's actually pretty sweet...in a nerdy-hot kind of way. He even offers to go with her to find her dad. Road trip, anyone?
5000 Twitter followers are all the friends I need #thingsIthoughtweretrue
With Adam in the back seat, a hyper chatterbox named Amy behind the wheel, and plenty of Cheetos to fuel their trip, Morgan feels ready for anything. She's not expecting a flat tire, a missed ferry, a fake girlfriend...and that these two people she barely knew before the summer started will become the people she can't imagine living without.
Janet: Be yourself and try not to worry so much what other people think about you. When I was younger, I used to think people cared so much about how I looked, what I said etc, and I was so self-conscious. If you’re true to yourself, (and have integrity) it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks. (Plus. Usually everyone is more worried about themselves than you anyhow)
Karen: Describe your perfect Valentine's Day.
Janet: Chocolate. Movie. Dinner with both my favorite boys. (Husband and son)
Karen: Road trip book! How fun does 16 Things I thought Were True sound?? Can’t wait to read it!

Christine Duval: Positively Mine (Bloomsbury Spark, 2013)
It is four weeks into her freshman year of college, and Laurel’s first test was unexpected. Discovering she’s pregnant isn’t exactly what she had planned for her first semester, and while she intends to tell her emotionally-distant father, being away at school makes it all too easy to hide.
An imperfect heroine plagued by bad choices and isolated during what should be the best time of her life, readers are sure to identify with Laurel as she confronts teen pregnancy, in secret.
Christine: When Harry Met Sally, The Notebook, Dirty Dancing, You’ve Got Mail, Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Karen: Who is your author crush and how have they inspired your writing?
Christine: Right now I have an author crush on John Green.
Karen: Great picks! Thanks for stopping by Christine.

Delete16 Things I thought Were True sounds fantastic. I'm glad I discovered it through this tour :-)
Ever since I have been seeing the movie trailers out for this movie this song has been in my head and it makes me cry when I hear it, Endless Love by Lionel Richie
ReplyDeleteOh that song brings me back to my HS days! lol
DeleteI haven't seen the preview yet.
Oh these sound good, but the first one also sounds heartbreaking. Also such a good truth!
ReplyDeleteI know right? I wish I spent less time worrying about how other people perceived me. But we all go through that don't we?
DeleteGreat tour. Favorite heartbreak song...I am just thinking of Every Breath You Take.
ReplyDeleteOh, my mind is so blank for heartbreaking song... I used to blast Disturbed when I felt heart broken, does that count?
