Before I started this whole blogging thing, my obsession was gardening. Reading and blogging has a way of taking over your life though and I didn’t do more than pull a few weeds last year. I really want to find more balance between my blog life and other hobbies so I’m making an effort to get back out in the yard this year.
It helps that everything is blooming really early. I think I’m going to have to pull out my good camera if I’m going to keep posting flower pics though. (another hobby left behind) My camera phone is not the best for quality photos.
So here are a few pictures of what’s blooming this week…
Powder Puff shrub
Milkweed
Cosmos
Skullcap

Skullcap is such a cool name, Karen! Loving your pics of the blooms :)
ReplyDeleteI love evil sounding names for such pretty, innocent plants lol
DeleteOooo I love it. Sooooo pretty! Which is your favorite?
ReplyDeleteI really love Cosmos and how wild and happy it looks. And I love the Milkweed because of all the butterflies it brings in.
DeleteSighs, no spring yet, even if it has been spring for a month, but not real spring
ReplyDeleteThat's the good part of living in FL. Spring comes early - but then we have hot summers so it all evens out.
Deletespring has sprung with all the allergies ..so many pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteAllergies are AWFUL this year but everything looks so beautiful.
DeleteI love your photos! When I lived in Louisiana, Eric and I gardened a lot. We were obsessed with having this nicest yard on the block. lol I still gardened after moving, but reading took over. Maybe this is inspiration I needed to change that somewhat!
ReplyDeletePuppy! Puppy! Puppy! Puppy! Mari is so good when I'm gardening. She just sits on the lawn and thinks her doggie thoughts. Your flowers are so pretty. It basically *just* got warm on Friday and I took the burlap off my rose bushes, starting clipping and raking. I'm clearing out an area on the side but it is SO much work. I let it get really overgrown. Maybe I should take some before and after pics. I got a bunch of bulbs and seedlings from Home Depot and I'll see how it all goes.
ReplyDeletePretties! And that includes your pup, who looks so happy in the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteDreams of Gods and Monsters is on my wishlist! I haven't gotten the chance to read the second book yet and it's been FOREVER since I've read the first! Will have to marathon all three when I get the chance (: I hope you enjoy all of your new goodies!

Hey :) This post, I just had to comment on! I'm going a Hogwarts class, Herbology and it involves knowing about nature & stuff so when I saw this post... I felt something of a kindred spirit.
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to continue other hobbies so I think its really good you're getting back into it & hope you enjoy it lots. My main other hobby was Art but that was wrecked by all the work for Art GCSE in part. I mean, I still enjoy it but not as much as I did. The worst part of Art is trying to take a picture with a camera on a phone ;) I can relate! This was a great way to remind us its Spring... It's fantastic your garden looks that gorgeous, even if it hasn't taken much work recently! I especially love the flower in the middle row, as I've never seen it before. Is that the milkweed or cosmos?
As always, your pets are gorgeous <3 I wouldn't mind more of your cat though ;) Cat person... LOL!
Happy reading! :)
It's Milkweed. The monarch butterflies love it. I'm excited that it's blooming so early this year.
DeleteThe purple flower (bottom left) is the cosmos.
I'm hoping to start fill in gout my herb garden soon. I have parsley, sage, thyme right now.
Figment is a camera hog so I'm sure there will be more pics of him soon lol
