I mentioned on last week’s FF5 that I was going to watch Kubo and the Two Strings on Netflix. I did and it was fantastic! And I loved this version of Guitar Gently Weeps by Regina Spektor that played at the end of the movie.

I love the art of tattooing but most of the television shows I’ve seen are reality shows and that’s not my thing. I stumbled upon Tattoo Age on VICE and it really dives into the artistry and the people behind the tattoo's. Each episode is an hour long and features one artist. Really good show!

I loved this discussion post over at Ksenia’s blog – Something Delicate about book hype
I think every person who has a book blog has dealt with this issue in some way. Go forth to Ksenia’s blog and discuss!

I have VERY limited crafting skills but I saw these cute origami bookmark corners on Instagram and decided to give it a go. It was actually really simple and if I can do it – you can do it!
Here are a few links to get you started if it’s something you want to try.
Simple Trick To Make Your Own Origami Bookmarks – I did method #2
If you Google origami bookmarks, you’ll see lots of options like this cat, embellished, monsters, foxes to name just a few.
*Tip: when working with patterned paper, lay the side you want as your color/pattern face down. I actually used to sheets of contrasting paper on the orange and blue ones so there would be contrast. So the inside of the bookmark will be the side facing up when you are folding. Hope that makes sense. I didn’t see that mentioned in any of my tutorials.
*And that really big heart on the bottom right in the top picture is over sized – I was practicing with a larger sheet of paper first. You’ll want to use a 4x4 sheet so it fits on the corner of the page neatly.

And finally – how cute are these book-ish shoes from Groove Bags??!!!
They have sneakers, tote & handbags, socks, pillows for almost any hobby. Photogrophy, horses, cats, sewing, music, theatre, baking…
At the time of writing this post, everything was on sale & a 10% off coupon popped up while I was there.

ReplyDeleteI am soooo tempted to to buy them. Maybe the socks lol
DeleteHappy Friday! What a fun post!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLOL, I wouldn't mind wearing those shoes myself. Also - so colourful! I guess we're not well-adjusted past-50 ladies LOL. AND you like tattoos! This is where we diverge, but it's a funny trivia about the always-surprising Karen ;D.
ReplyDeleteThank you for boosting the interesting discussion on Ksenia's blog. I paid her a visit!
When it comes to old age I'm going down fighting lol It doesn't hurt that I'm fairly immature to start with.
DeleteI would never get a tattoo but I love the creativity of it.

Delete"When it comes to old age I'm going down fighting lol".
That's the spirit! ;)
I get sucked into the hype monster too much, even when I try to fight it!
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes!!
I don't anymore. But I do get sicked into those easy twitter Kindle sale links lol
DeleteGoing to try the bookmarks and the tattoo show you mentioned! Thanks :) Hope you have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteGreat! You too Lily!
DeleteI would still screw up those bookmarks! LOL Or more likely I would buy the supplies and then they would collect dust forever!
ReplyDeleteThose sneaks are super cute!
It's SO easy but I had to try a few different methods before I found the one that made sense to me lol
DeleteYou did well on the bookmarks - too cute! Ooh "Guitar Gently Weeps" by Regina Spektor? I must find this version!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those shoes. I keep seeing ads for them and I really want a pair. haha
-Lauren
Isn't it a beautiful version?
DeleteThanks for mentioning my discussion, Karen! And those shoes are so cute.
ReplyDeleteOf course!
DeleteOh I will have check out that discussion and I will check out Kubo too. I also love that bookish site :)
ReplyDeleteI think you and the kids would enjoy Kubo Julie
DeleteI'm in love with the bookish shoes. I need to check the store out. I've never seen anything like it. So unique, mainly because the pictures.. BOOKS. Haha :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, have a wonderful week and Happy reading. :)
They're so cute. I might get the bookish socks
DeleteAww! Such a cute bookmark. And I ain't that crafty either so it's good to hear from you that it was pretty simple :) I've added Kubo and the Two Strings to my TBW list on your recommendation - I'll have to check to make sure it's on Canadian Netflix as well as US Netflix.
ReplyDeleteIt took me maybe 3 minutes doing it along with the tutorial the first time. Once you get the hand of it it's 1 minute lol
DeleteKubo was so good.
Still need to see Kubo... and will! I also loved those tattoo shows until they became overly dramatic. I'll have to check out the one you suggest. I also say you are a liar! ;) I see that craft and you can now declare you are crafty! LOL
ReplyDeleteWatch Kubo!! It's so good!
DeleteTry this tattoo show. It's not about their personal lives at all (other than to learn their background). It's more documentary than reality show.
I've seen those bookmarks and really liked them. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteThey're so easy to do. Like 1-2 minutes. Done.
DeleteOh gosh, those bookmarks turned out really lovely Karen. I clicked on the fox bookmark and now determined to make one now too. I'll have to pick up some craft paper. I've seen those shoes before and desperately wanted a pair but the shipping to Australia is astronomical which seems to be always the case. Hope you're having a wonderful week of reading Karen and thanks for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteThank you! Isn't the fox one adorable! I need to make that one too.
DeleteThat tattoo show sounds awesome, and I love your bookmarks! Those are so cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's really cool and only 1/2 hour long.
