Bastille
I mentioned last week that I was going their concert and it was such a blast! I saw them in 2014 and they were great then but have really upped their stage presence with a lot of visuals and audience interaction. A huge screen in the back had played videos; a *newscaster* that helped move the show along and gave fans something to do and laugh about while waiting in between acts and songs, haunting visuals of war, and ongoing visuals for Annie Oakley Hanging – a side project of Dan Smith & Ralph Pellymounter (you can view a snippet of the very cool graphic novel inspired video HERE on my Instagram account. I had problems loading it on the blog)

Midnight Mocha Mint Frappuccino
Dark cocoa and refreshing mint, milk and ice - infused with cooling mint sugar crystals, cut in a layer of whipped cream, then topped with more whipped cream and a dusting of dark cocoa.
I’m not a big fan of Frapps. I think I’ve had maybe 4?? in the last decade but ZOMG I LOVE this one. I’ve had four in the past WEEK. It’s posted on the main menu board but their website says it’s limited so I keep getting once last MMM just in case it’s my last lol
3.
Star Trek Beyond and Suicide Squad
I’m trying to catch up with all the movies I have on my DVR
Suicide Squad was a hot mess – especially the convoluted beginning - and I felt like the cast had very little chemistry. Maybe now that the groundwork is out of the way the second movie will be better?
Star Trek was decent enough. Felt more like a TV movie than made for theater. I wasn’t blown away or anything but I mostly enjoyed it.
4.
Ben & Jerry’s Pint Slices
You probably think I’m a sugar-holic at this point! I usually don’t eat a lot of junk food but when I like something I can’t stop lol
The pint slices come in a 3 pack – Americone Dream, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Vanilla Peanut Butter Cup

#TBT Book Reviews
I saw this idea over on Jenn Burke’s website. There’s been so much talk lately about how to feature older books or books we’ve already reviewed and this seems like a fun idea to try.
*And on a side note – Jenn is and author and you really should check out her books while you’re there. I LOVE her Chaos Station series, co-authored with Kelly Jensen
*And on another side note – I LOVE when author’s are also passionate readers and recommend books! That goes so much farther for me in following and author or giving an author a try than non stop self promo tweets and hollow rec’s where you know the author hasn’t really read or enjoyed the book.
(btw – Jenn gives excellent book rec’s on Twitter if you are a M/M romance reader!)

ICYMI – on the blog this week:
Happy TGIF everyone!
Anything I should be reading/watching/listening to/buying this weekend?
So jealous still that you saw Bastille :D
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprise. They were actually supposed to play at a larger venue but got moved to the one I go to last minute and we managed to get tickets.
DeleteI think maybe they were filming a video or something. LOADS of cameras taping the whole thing.
<3 I'm so glad you liked my tbt reviews! And thank you for the lovely words. I'm happy to give recs anytime!
ReplyDelete:-) Thanks for letting me share!
DeleteMmmm I had some ice cream last night. Sea Salt Caramel from Halo Top. SOO good and only 280 calories for the whole pint. Don't mind if I do. lol
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm that sounds delicious! I'll have to look for it.
DeleteOk, I need that Frapp in my life asap.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm
DeleteOh gosh, I love Frapps but I can't really drink them at the moment because of weight loss and all. The one you got sounds amazing though! Yum!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had such a great time at the concert. It sounds wonderful.
-Lauren
I need to stop drinking those. Seriously. I don't even like Frapps but I'm addicted.
DeleteI'm not familiar w/ Bastille but glad it was a good show! And the MMM frapp looks pretty dang good!
ReplyDeleteI kinda want to see Suicide Squad but I haven't heard very good things lol.
If you go in with low expectations you'll probably enjoy it! lol It got better as it went on. That's why I have more hope for the sequel.
DeleteI have to try the B&J pint treat. I love the ice cream but it can be too rich. I can only take it on small doses.
ReplyDeleteSuicide Squad is a mess. It doesnt have substance!
Don't have the chocolate one. It's SO rich! The peanut butter one is my favorite because it just has bites of PB. I don't feel sick/guilty after lol
DeleteThat Frapp sounds so good.
ReplyDeleteI just watched Suicide Squad a few months ago and loved it. Beyond was just ok for me, I love the franchise but it could have been better.
I don't know much of the background for SS so it's hard for me to judge. The introductions felt messy but I think most people know who everyone is - unlike me lol
DeleteStar trek seems like it's out of ideas?? It was ok.
Me either. They're too rich for me. I didn't' have the Unicorn but I had the Pink Flamingo at Disney and I hear they're similar. It's not anywhere near as sweet as that one. that was kinda gross. I felt sick after lol
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of bloggers reviewing older released books, especially in YA. They're typically cheaper for teens to purchase and the hype has typically died down years after release. Those Ben and Jerry's, are they like ice cream sandwiches? I don't think we have Ben and Jerry's here unfortunately. They look delicious!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had a great time watching the concert. TBT Book Reviews sound like an awesome idea. I have so many old favorites I can't count. I'm gonna do this one day. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful week. :)
ReplyDeleteThat Frapp looks fab as does the ice cream, there goes my diet!!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of these Ben & Jerry's pint slices! I love B&J so much, but they have sooo many calories. I've been eating Halo Top ice cream, which is really good and has way less calories! (so I can eat more of it!)
