wide range of topics from books to blogging.
Today’s
question is:
What Are Your Book Picks for Summer 2017
I know the question was meant as summer of 2017 releases but I’m so far behind on my reading and I’m laser focused on my current TBR shelf so I’m putting my twist on the answer.
These are a few of my older books that I hope to read this summer.
(goodreads links in the book title)
CrookCrooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo – I LOVED Six of Crows but I can’t seem to get further than 1/2 way with Crooked Kingdom. I'm just not enjoying it as much. I started it the day it came out but I had personal stuff going on so I’m hoping it was just my frame of mind and I’ll fall in love when I pick it back up.
Queen of Blood by Sara Beth Durst – I enjoy this author and I’m looking forward to this one.
You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour and David Levithan – My friend Jen from YA Romantics loved this so it’s high on my must read list.
Summer Days and Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories by various authors – edited by Stephanie Perkins – Summer + Love stories = duh…gottta read in the summer! lol
Bone Gap by Laura Ruby – I desperately want to read this yet find myself avoiding it. I hear it’s not an easy book and is a little strange so I’m slightly intimidated but it’s supposed to be brilliant.
Have you read any of these? Any thoughts as to what I should read first?
What’s on your summer reading list?
I could almost not think of any :/ I am bad at remembering when books are out, lol
ReplyDeleteI don't really look anymore. I see them popping up on Twitter or on release day and add them then.
DeleteI have my reading of ARC's scheduled through August. Great question!
ReplyDeleteI have the arc's for June in yesterday's post but then I only have 1-2 arc's per month for the rest of the summer. It feels amazing! lol
DeleteI think it's fine to go back and pick TBRs, that's what summer is about! I think my biggest MUST READ is Wildfire by Ilona Andrews and Holiday in the Hamptons by Sarah Morgan - both summer 2017 releases.
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog, visiting with #getsocial17 event.
You're right! I think summer is for being laid back reading.
DeleteThe Andrews' series would be on my list too! I need to read books #2 & #3.
I've heard of most of these, but none of them are on my TBR, actually :) I don't think I have a summer reading list! But I think I'll be reading all the HP novels back to back at some point this summer :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I'll end up reading them this summer. I'm SUCH a mood reader but it helps remind me of what's on my shelf.
DeleteQueen of Blood sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteIt does! A few of my blogger pals have loved it.
DeleteI think I should change my blog name to The Unorganized Reader. You all amaze me with your reading plans. I fly by the seat of my pants. I hope you enjoy them all :)
ReplyDeleteNot me!!! I'm a total pantser lol
DeleteI'm such a mood reader that I probably won't read any of these.
Crooked Kingdom and Queen of Blood *nods* I actually need to read Six of Crows so I can get to Crooked. And Summer Days/ Summer Nights is a great read for summer!
ReplyDeleteI loved Six of Crows. I'm really hoping my mood will have changed by the time I jump back in to Crooked Kingdom.
DeleteI haven't really been looking at new releases lately. Just trying to stay focused and catch up for now.
ReplyDeleteYep, I liked You Know Me Well and I haven't read Six of Crows or Crooked Kingdom either!
ReplyDeleteJen @ YA Romantics
I think you would like Six of Crows Jen.
DeleteI loved Crooked Kingdom. I hope you enjoy it. #getsocial17
ReplyDeleteMe too! I hope it was just bad timing.
DeleteI would like to read Crooked Kingdom. Tell ya what, if you finally give up on it just send it my way and I will let you know if you should continue ;)
ReplyDeleteHa! I even bought the gorgeous boxed set! I'm hoping it was just my frame of mind at the time and I love it once I pick it up again.
DeleteI really need to read Summer Days and Summer Nights. I have a copy so this summer is the time to do so!
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect! I got it int he winter but it didn't' seem right to read it then lol
DeleteI've done the same thing with my summer reading. I'm heading to the TBR pile for the most part with a few review books sprinkled in here and there. Hopefully your Crooked Kingdom works out better now that its sat for a while.
ReplyDeleteIt's a low pressure month as far as review books so it feels nice to just catch up.
DeleteI still need to get to Six of Crows. Just not enough darn time!
ReplyDeleteThere is NEVER enough time Anna. NEVER.
DeleteIt can be hard to read challenging books, hope you enjoy reading Bone Gap and it proves to be a great experience for you.
ReplyDeleteI read so fast that when I need to slow down I get bored easily if the story isn't just coming at me. lol
DeleteMy summer will definitely be made up of overdue review books and books that released and I didn't get a chance to read yet. I am missing some new series installments that I want to get to. #GetSocial17
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly caught up on review books so now I'm just tackling the older ones. It's always a battle though!
DeleteGreat line up! I still need to read Six of Crows and finish the Grisha series :-/
ReplyDeleteI never read the Grisha series Melissa. I believe there is a little cross over with this one but not enough that I'm confused.
DeleteSounds like some interesting books. Thanks for sharing this list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
DeleteI have heard great things about Bardugo - I hope to get work some of her books into my schedule this year. Stopping by for #getsocial2017 from Bambi Unbridled.
ReplyDeleteI ADORED Six of Crows. I'm not sure what's stopping me from enjoying CK :-((
DeleteI don't even want to look at my TBR right now but I know I'll have to at some point just so I can get a better idea of what I need to do this summer.
ReplyDeleteI counted at the beginning of this year - 149 total - physical books on my shelf. The pic showed the books stretched across my kitchen lol
