This weeks theme is inspired a bit by My Pixie Blog’s post about gratitude practice. Here are 5 things that made me happy/grateful this week.
1.
Figment out adventuring!
I bought him a harness and took him out in the (fenced) backyard to add some excitement to his life and he’s like…um…didn’t you rescue me from the scary outdoors 12 years ago? Why would I want to go back out there?? It’s a work in progress lol
The PUPPIA harness is cool though! It’s made for dogs but is nice and soft making it perfect for cats.
2.
Butterflies!
I have a butterfly garden and this week a lot of Monarchs emerged from their pupae. This little guy/girl is a brand new butterfly! I posted a video on Instagram of it just starting to unfurl it’s wings if you would like to check it out.
Monarch butterflies are in trouble due to loss of habitat and their host plant, milkweed, the plant that the caterpillars need to eat. You can read more about how you can help here.
3.
The tastes of summer
4.
I got this NOVICA Teakwood Condiment Bowl set for review from Amazon Vine and it’s really beautiful!
All the products from the National Geographic NOVICA line are Fair Trade and local artisans build sustainable businesses.
5.
A dog and his unicorn stuffy
My baby boy Indy. Well, he’s not a baby anymore – more like an old man at 14 years old. He’s not a camera hog like Fonzi and Figgy so it’s rare that I get a picture of him but this one made me all warm and fuzzy.
ICYMI – on the blog this week:
I love butterflies and a butterfly garden is sucha great idea. They're amazing. And Figment looks like our cats- curious about the outside but very cautious ha ha.
ReplyDeleteNice condiment bowl set too, I love setting out wooden bowls with goodies in 'em. :)
I have a lot of different butterflies in my yard but so far only the Monarch's and Tiger Swallowtails seems to lay eggs, pupae. My neighbor also gets the Giant Swallowtails on her lime tree which is pretty cool.
DeleteLOL @ Figment, but poor thing - you are so cruel to remind him that dire occurrence ;D. He looks nice in his harkness though!
ReplyDeleteAnd your old boy Indy looks so cute with his toy.
He's like nooooooo I'm happy to have been rescued and be an indoor cat! lol
DeleteI used to have two cats that liked walking around in their harnesses so I have hope :-)
Luci loved the outdoors too much, he was supposed to be an indoor cat but he rules the house
ReplyDeleteAll my cats have been indoors and like it that way lol
DeleteI've had two that liked going out on leashes though.
You have a butterfly garden?! Wow. That must have been nice to wake up to every morning. And my, your fur babies are so cute I wanna pinch them.
ReplyDeleteI have several small ones around my yard. It's gorgeous this time of year - there are dozens of butterflies and hummingbirds flitting around at the same time.
DeleteAwww Figment <3 I wish my lil girl was afraid of the outdoors. Instead she keeps me up all night, yowling at the back door because she wants to go out. She's constantly trying to weasel her way outside every time I open the door for the dog. She has no idea how scary the great outdoors really is.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are a vine member! That's pretty awesome and that condiment set is beautiful.
We found him up a tree during a thunderstorm when he was about 8 weeks old so he is no rush to get out there lol
DeleteI had other cats I've rescued from outside that were the same. They were like - I'll take the luxury of the indoors thank you very much!
Great post. I live this. Thanks for sharing this, Karen. The butterfly garden is gorgeous! Surreal. Oh your boy is like my girl, Lala. She doesn't like camera. An introvert. Haha.. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to get a good pic of him anyway because of his black fur but he doesn't want to be bothered anyway lol
DeleteLOL your cat is so cute! if it's really what on his mind then you must be the one who's got a fun moment XDD
ReplyDeletebtw, butterfly garden sounds really nice!

The garden is super relaxing!
DeleteI'm so tempted to try my cat on a harness!!
ReplyDeleteIt' snot going great so far but we'll see lol
DeleteAww your cat's name is Figment? That's so cute! And the picture/story is adorable, haha. Both pets are cute <3 And yum, I haven't had cherries in a while!
ReplyDeleteYes, we found him up a tree when I already had 3 cats so we were pretending he was a Figment of our imagination lol
Deletei tried to find him a home but you can see that didn't work out very well.
OMG. That is uber cool! I've seen your posts on IG but it bears looking at again.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, Karen!
I know - it's hard to save things for the blog vs Insta lol
DeleteThat is a great theme and I love seeing what makes you smile. Have a great weekend, Karen!
ReplyDeleteThanks - you too Sophia!
DeleteYou're dog and his little unicorn are too cute.
ReplyDelete:-))
DeleteFigment and Indy are so dang adorable! I can definitely see why they'd bring some smiles into your life. :)
ReplyDeleteAw, Indy is so cute! And poor Figment! Hopefully they start to like the outside more. I don't have a cat, but whenever I do, I'm totally going to bring them outside with me. :)
ReplyDelete-Lauren
Nope. he still hates it. Stopped eating after I took him out Saturday. I think I have to surrender on this one. lol
DeleteOh I love ALL of these. These pictures do make me happy. Really. Thanks for sharing, Karen. :)
ReplyDelete:-))) Thank you
DeleteFiiiiig!!!!! So cute! The herd here would mostly agree. The outdoors?! For serious?! But there's inside!!! lol
ReplyDeleteIndy is adorable!
