I’m participating in Herding Cats & Burning Soup’s Blog All About promt challenge.
This month’s prompt is WINTER
But I do love winter clothes so I got to unpack the down coat, mittens, boots and my flannel bunny sheets!
We also got to take those new bikes we got for Christmas for a spin. My goal (for the year) was to ride a 5 mile trail near us. I did it last weekend! To be honest, at least 1/2 of it was coasting downhill so it wasn’t a tough 5 miles. But coasting one way means riding uphill on the way back. Something I need to keep in mind lol
And winter is prime veggie season in FL. I planted a small salad greens garden and I’m getting lots of lettuce, swiss chard and kale. I also planted broccolini but I’m not sure how that will turn out yet.
And of course, I have to
What is your favorite (or least favorite) part of winter?
TWO posts in a day??? Have you gone MAD??? 😂
ReplyDeleteLove the mittens and the sheets!
We've had a mild winter so far (probably all our cold migrated to Florida LOL), at least in my corner of Italy. My least favourite part of winter would be that I ALWAYS seem to get sick...though this year I've been boosting my immune system, and SO FAR it has worked! While my favourite part of winter is that I celebrate my birthday (and thankfully, I've never gotten sick around that particular day for all my adult life!).
Yeah. that was an oopsie lol
ReplyDeleteKevin has gotten sick already. And while on his vacation so that wasn't fun. I'm sure my turn is coming but I usually get sick closer to spring - right when I think I've escaped it lol
Fonzi's so cute!!! <3 <3
ReplyDeleteGah, winter is meh in our country. We don't have snow, so the only difference is that the air's a bit cooler than usual, so activities aren't all that special, either. I do prefer this to freezing weathers, though. XD
- Aimee @ Aimee, Always
It has been an unusually cold winter this year. No snow but we did have a tiny bit once back in 2011. I made a little 3 inch snowman lol
DeleteFonzi is adorable!! Florida looks gorgeous in the winter - unlike London haha! <3
ReplyDeleteCharlotte | https://charlotteidek.com
It's certainly nicer than summer! lol
DeleteOmg yes! I'm in central Florida and it was way too cold there for a couple days! I'm so glad it's back up in the 60s and 70s! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteAre you? I'm in Ocala. What the heck is going on this year???? I like a cool winter but this is ridiculous.
DeleteYour winter sounds fab. I am looking outside as it snows right now dreaming of spring! Fonzi looks so good :)
ReplyDeleteI really shouldn't complain because it's worse everywhere else but your blood thins down here and I'm a wimp lol
DeleteI really need to move to Florida. We have no gardens until June! It's 30 degrees today and feels like a mini heat wave ;)
ReplyDeleteWe can grow cold weather fruits and veggies like leafy greens. Strawberries should be next month but they can get hit of it gets too cold.
DeleteAlso, Fonzi in those glasses is one of the most adorable things I've seen.
ReplyDeleteHe's so funny. He walked around like that for 15 minutes lol
DeleteHeavens, isn't Fonzi the cutest thing ever!
ReplyDeleteHe makes me laugh. He's so silly. And puts up with his annoying mom lol
DeleteIt's supposed to be in the 70's all this week here in Las Vegas. 70's! I want my winter back. lol
ReplyDeleteHave you gotten any cold weather? We are up, down, up, down....
DeleteFonzi looks like he's taking it pretty well. :) And yeah I can't believe how cold it's been down there in Florida, from what I've heard. And yay for fresh greens!! Hope you warm up (and us too)!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe winter has been so brutal and that was only January!
DeleteFonzi tolerates his weirdo mom lol
First the foxes, now the bunnies! Karen, you have so many cool sets of sheets. And Fonzi's winter look is adorable (if somewhat tormented, haha)!
ReplyDeleteOMG - I have SO many weird sheet sets! I could do a whole post on them lol
DeleteMy hipster sheltie
Your dog is such a good sport!
ReplyDeleteFavorite thing about winter - I do enjoy the first snow of the season. There's something really magical about it. Least favorite thing - the perpetual grayness that is common here in the Ohio Valley during the winter. I miss sunlight.
Visting from linkup
He is lol He'll stay like that all day too.
DeleteI miss light snow. It's really pretty and quiet at first but come spring it's just all muddy and yuck.
Thanks for stopping by!
Brr for you guys, Karen! Good that you have some winter gear and warmer sheets. I didn't have that sort of thing on hand when I lived in California.
ReplyDeleteLove that your veggie garden is doing so well and you get to enjoy it already.
Congrats on conquering the five mile bike trail. LOL, that whole downhill thing occurred to me last fall when I was visiting California and was walking the dunes on a favorite beach. They all made fun of me because I walked up one side and then walked along the ridge rather than down the other side. I knew my limits. :)
Cute Fonzi!
I pretty much love everything winter except the ice. Great post!
We lived in upstate NY prior to moving here so I kept a lot of my winter gear and I buy a few things when they're on clearance. I never thought I would use them as much as I do though lol
DeleteI'm not great at gardening in the summer but my winter salad garden always does well.
I used to love winter when I lived in RI but now I'm a wimp lol
Omg, Fonzi is too cute! That's awesome some of the things you're planting are turning out well. I'm sorry you got icicles in Florida! That should not happen. Annddd...I totally forgot about the prompt this month. Fail. LOL I'll do February though!!

He's so funny. Goober
DeleteIt's been cold here but I have to remember that it's only for short bursts & not as cold as everyone else. yup! gonna keep telling myself that! lol
Kale, lord Karen, you'll come out one day and have rogue hipsters nibbling away at your vegetable garden. Fonzi is so precious, your Instagram account is one of my favourites. I love seeing the puppers <3
ReplyDeleteHa! More like Hipster Rabbits and Fonzi nibbling lol
DeleteOh yeah...then I move on to complaining about the humidity lol
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
ReplyDeleteThe worst part if Winter is that I wish it snowed here in South West England, but it never does!
The best part is seeing my grandparent and aunt and cousins as we go to see them at Christmas and stay for a few days and we barely see them apart from that.
Another bad thing is that my Granddad has demensia and doesn't remember me...
https://bookmaniac12.blogspot.co.uk/
Thank you Sasha 😊
DeleteI wouldn't mind a little bit of snow but I used to live where we got snowed in a lot so I'm kind of over it lol
I'm sorry to hear about your grandad. My father had dementia and it's tough.
It's crazy to hear that it's so cold in Florida! I live in Maryland, and we usually have fairly cold winters, but it has been in the single digits here way more than I would like. I think the hardest part of winter for me is being stuck inside with three kids under five on the really cold days. They would much rather run around outside.
ReplyDeleteOh I bet that's rough! Hang in there... it's got to go away sometime soon right??? I hope lol
DeleteMy fav part of winter - for about 5 minutes! - is the snow. I love seeing my little dude's face when it comes down and we can go outside and build a snowman. However, I really don't like the cold, the mud and the dark miserable months that fall after Christmas before spring hits. It just feels like there is nothing to look forward to in Jan/Feb, so what is the point of them? lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty when it's new and fluffy!
DeleteAnd seriously Jan/Feb....WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE???? lol
PUPPY!!!!!! I need to dress up my cat more...moving to the new house threw me in a loop so she got the year off ;)
ReplyDeleteMy cat would not be amused lol
DeleteFonzi is so cute! I'm not really a fan of winter, but one good thing is that the snakes are in hibernation lol
ReplyDeleteYes! Hibernation snakes (& no ticks, fleas or mosquitoes) are a good thing :-)
DeleteGreat pic with the dog!
ReplyDeleteI love the peace and quiet of winter, the way the snow muffles sound.
I do miss that first snow. It's so pretty and peaceful.
DeleteHe is so cute! Jealous of your veggies. NC is like No I WILL KILL EVERYTHING THAT LIVES!!! So dag cold. What's hateful is we've been so dang cold and STILL had a flea and a mosquito yesterday. Ahh!
ReplyDeleteHappy rest of wintering down in FL!
That is one thing I love about FL in the winter. We have the best produce at the farmers market then. It's strawberry season right now then the blueberries are up. Almost all veggies are in season now.
DeleteGive me the cold anyday! It was a shocker to hear about the cold there. My son visited a little while ago and had brought along shorts as part of his wardrobe. (lol) Lucky you for having so many fruits in season, and I'm going to try my hand in the garden this year again. What an adorable doggie. Happy Saturday and Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI like cooler but not cold lol
DeleteWinter is out growing season. Byt he time summer comes it's all bugs and humidity.
Nobody likes it when I talk about my weather. I imagine it is similar for you in Florida most of the winter season (I am in California). I just wish the weather would make up its mind here. You make me want to break out my bicycle and go for a ride! Such a cute dog! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYeah - no one cares about your 40 degree deep freeze when they're minus 0 lol
DeleteWe're 80's now so it's up - down - up - down....
Ooo, those frozen drops. Love feeling warm and cozy with a book near a fireplace on a cold snowy winter day.
