tell me something tuesday
Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings and discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.
Topic: What books or series that are languishing in your TBR pile are you finally going to give a try this year?
Answer:
Ummm….ALL OF THEM! lol
As I’ve said, repeatedly, my plan is to read and whittle down my physical TBR pile this year but I do a have a few books that are at the top of that list.
Crooked Kingdom: I read and loved Six of Crows – thought I might die during the one year wait to read Crooked Kingdom – ordered the purty boxed set and everything. I started reading it and…didn’t like it so I set it aside. I couldn’t bare to end this series on a bad note so I’m avoiding it. I did start reading it at a tough time. My dog was sick and ultimately had to be put to sleep so yeah – not in the mood for deep reading. So either way – even of I cave and DNF it – this comes off the shelf in 2018.
Queen of Blood: I really enjoy Durst’s writing and even though I don’t love fantasy, I think I’m in the mood for this. ~ Goodreads
End of Days trilogy: I have book #1 on my Kindle and I started it, got distracted, and never got back to it. That would clear 3 books off the TBR and a series done! ~ Goodreads
Certain Dark Things: This one kind of pisses me off lol I actually donated to the kickstarter for this book. It got picked up by a publisher and I received the HC as a reward. I REALLY wanted to read it! I hear it’s really good! Somehow I keep reading other things before it. If I only read one book from this pile this year I want it to be this one. ~ Goodreads
Dreams of Gods and Monsters: Another book that I bought on release day and never read and the final book in the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy. I loved the first book, thought the second was a tad confusing and heard mixed things about this one so I’ve been hesitant to read it. I’ll probably start it and if I’m struggling – let it go. ~ Goodreads
E-Book
And I Darken: I got this book on sale a while ago and it’s another one that I want to read but it just slips my mind. ~ Goodreads
What long neglected book are you planning on reading this year?

Both Six of Crows books are languishing on my shelves. I bought them w/ 2016 Christmas gift card money lol. I want to try and get to those this year too. Good luck with getting to these :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOOOVED SoC, so not enjoying CK is killing me and making me not want to finish it and possibly ruin my love of the first book.

Haha, this is funny indeed. You helped bring this book to life and now you're not reading it...yet 😉.
C'mon, you beat the 5 mile track, you can do this!
You would think reading would be easier than riding 5 miles - yet I accomplished that first lol
DeleteAll of them too, hehe
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of series in my TBR that's been sitting for a very long time and as one of my goals, I need to really get on with them. No more distractions hehe
There's ALWAYS too many. You get rid of one batch and new one appears! lol
DeleteI'm going to attempt this post today...my list is WAY too long. Lol.
ReplyDeleteOh I hear ya! It's more like 80 something books but for - not drafting a post forever purposes...I stuck to these lol
DeleteFrom what I have heard of these books...you are going to have a blast with these. Hope you really enjoy picking them up.
ReplyDeleteOther than Dreams of Gods and Monsters - I've heard really great things about them all.
DeleteI have way too many to get to this year, hope I knock some of them out haha
ReplyDeleteIt's the curse of the blogger lol
DeleteOh, I really liked Dreams of Gods and Monsters - I hope you will too! I don't own And I Darken but I want to read that book as well. From my own shelves, I really need to read Winter by Marissa Meyer, as well as Heartless.

Ooh I need to read Winter too! I loved Heartless.
DeleteLOL. ALL OF THEM
ReplyDeleteSo many books - too little time.
DeleteI have so many. So, so many. It is shameful. I wouldn't even know where to begin. I just discovered two bins full of horror novels that are all unread. There were at least 13 Richard Laymon books in there. I sure hope I live to 100 and they keep making stronger glasses because I will never get them all read!
ReplyDeleteI saw your pile. You have WAY more than me lol
DeleteAnd that wasn't all of them!
DeleteI DEMAND THAT YOU READ THE END OF DAYS SERIES! I will forgive everything else, except that!
ReplyDeleteOK OK OK Don't hurt me!
DeleteThose look like good reads. My TBR list is like a million lol but this year I plan to finish the Harry Potter series. I know I am probably the only avid reader that has not read them all. I just have a hard time making a commitment to a long series. But I have read the first two and really enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteI quit almost all series a few years ago. I was jsut reading way too many to keep track of.
DeleteI hope you enjoy HP! Have you managed to avoid spoilers all these years or have you at least seen the movies?
I haven't seen the movies. I didn't want to until I read them all.
DeleteAnd I Darken and the sequel, Now I Rise were on my top ten so I loved them so much, I hope you get to read it and of course love it!
ReplyDeleteAfter Certain Dark Things, that's the one I want to read most.
DeleteI started books years ago and enjoyed them, but never read the other books in the series. I've been going through my Goodreads books and trying to determine which ones I still need to finish. I know I'll have to reread a few of them from the beginning (because I just do not remember what happened), and I'm okay with that. My goal this year is to read more books within the same series.
ReplyDeleteI've been going through mine too and using Goodreads to eliminate what doesn't appeal to me anymore.
DeleteI actually want to read more series this year. I gave up most of them a few years ago.
I need to get to so many too. I have Six of Crows and then I am sure Crooked Kingdom will be on my list once I finish it. There is just never enough time!
ReplyDeleteNo, there isn't! And then NEW books come out!
DeleteOmg I LOVE Penryn and the End of Days! I hope you get to that series soon!
ReplyDeleteI hear it's really good and I can read all three back to back so that's a plus.
DeleteI only have 1 book in my physical tbr pile right now because I usually read them as they come in. But I have quite a few in my Amazon wish list and I do plan on getting to those soon.
ReplyDeleteIf I started right now I would be ok. I'm much better at managing my reading now. Almost all of this comes from book cons years before.
DeleteI'm envious of your ONE though. lol
I’m planning to read the rest of The Others series by Anne Bishop. I loved the first two but haven’t got to the rest yet. There are lots of books in series I’m planning to read as well since I love the authors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Karen. ❤️😁
I hope you enjoy it Geybie. And she has a new spin off series coming this year I think.
DeleteI hope it picks up for me. I'm just not as engaged as I was in the first book.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! We must read it! I'm going to try to read the series in Feb.
I still have to finish that Laini Taylor trilogy, too! I'm gonna need to read a ton of recaps for the first and second books before I do, though. OMG Certain Dark Things! I looooved that one so much.
ReplyDeleteOMG I can't even imagine how confused I'll be with Taylor's lol
DeleteSo many books are languishing in my TBR and it's a little embarrassing really. It's really cool you have Certain Dark Things, I've heard really good stuff about that book so I hope you manage to get to it this year. I really enjoyed Dreams of Gods and Monsters, Laini Taylor is one of my faves (even if I've not read her newest book yet). I hope you get to all of these books eventually.
ReplyDeleteThey sound good! Six of Crows is on my list still. One day. One day. Happy reading!
