my monday (okay–tuesday) musings…

I was on a roll for a while. I had blog posts drafted ahead for 3 weeks and that’s rare for me. I’m more of  a pantser when it comes to blogging. I was all HELL YEAH! I can chill a bit and still be way ahead of the game but... I’m me... and took my blog ahead advantage and sat on my butt – watching tv and adventuring outside (I did a 10 mile bike ride last weekend!!! Go me!) – and now I’m behind.

Whatevs….I’m just going to roll with it. lol

I only have one book for review in March and my reading has been ALL over the place as far as genres so here’s a bit of taste of what I plan on reading this month.

A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole - I'm reading this one now and it's cute. You know how we get those spam emails saying you are betrothed to a Nigarian Prince - you only have to send your SS & bank accounts #'s? Well for Naledi, it's real and Prince Thabiso has come to sweep her off her feet and make Naledi princess of Thesolo.

Finding Felicity by Stacey Kade - This is my review book and I'll start it right after finishing up A Princess in Theory. Love Stacey Kade so I'm looking forward to this one.

Bad Girls Throughout History: 100 Remarkable Women Who Changed the World by Ann Shen - " From pirates to artists, warriors, daredevils, scientists, activists, and spies, the accomplishments of these incredible women vary as much as the eras and places in which they effected change." This is on Kindle Unlimited and profiles 100 women - each with a beautiful watercolor portrait. Every profile is only about a page long so this is the kind of book I can read whenever I have a few minutes and set aside again.

Walden on Wheels: On the Open Road from Debt to Freedom by Ken Ilgunas - Another Kindle Unlimited book with free audible so I've been listening to it when I run errands in the morning. It's about a college student, sick of being in debt. He lives out of a van as he finishes college and travels while trying to become debt free. I love reading about unplugging and that nomadic lifestyle but I'm finding the authors narrative to be a bit cliche and filled with judgmental stereotypes - so I'm not sure how far I'll make it. I thought it might be the narrator since i don't do well with audio - maybe the humor wasn't translating well?... but most reviewers commented on the same thing.

Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda - "Set against a future of marauding space scavengers and deadly aliens who kill with sound, here is a frightening, fast-paced YA adventure from the author of the acclaimed horror novel, Shutter." This sounds pretty cool so I hope to fit it in this month.

February Reading

I read 16 books in February - You can check out my Goodreads shelf

I didn't have any WOW books but I enjoyed Cruel Prince, Milk & Honey, A Girl Like That.
Craig and Fred was my favorite and the most fun I've had reading in a long time.

  1. Great job on the bike ride!! I've been fading in and out on my blogging. I understand how it goes. You've still gotten a lot of books read! I wish I was at that number already for the year!

    1. I'm shocked! 10 miles was my goal for the whole year! I have to avoid hills for now because I lose steam and get too tired lol but still I'm proud of myself.

I read really fast so as long as I can find 4-6 hours to read, I can read 1 book a day.

  2. I actually got in a little bit of reading this month. I'm planning on reading a little more too. I currently have 40 posts already done for my blog so that gives me a little breathing room right now.

    1. Oh I will NEVER have 40 posts ready. 6 is my limit. I don't even like posting that far ahead. I forget what I wrote about lol but I'm in awe of people who can like you and Anna from Herding Cats.

  4. Haha, I think we are blogging twins. Whenever I get a little ahead I quickly fall behind because I spend blogging time doing other things. Congrats on the 10 mile ride. I would probably croak if I attempted that!

    1. Yes! I figured I would take a few days to do other things,t hen I had the jury duty episode and then eh - just didn't feel like blogging. Oh well.

And yes! I thought I would croak too but I didn't lol

  6. I've been sitting on my butt too lately. And I can't even blame poll duty, because that only took 3 hours of my Saturday...oh, and my whole Sunday till 3 in the morning (!!!), but then again, it was just two days. I keep shuffling my schedule around. And I don't even have the excuse of doing 10 mile bike rides 😮.

Wait, you've read 32 books already this year?!?!?

    1. Yup. I was kind of surprised because I felt like I was reading slow this month and very few were novellas. lol

A Princess in Theory is cute but the guy is making me twitch a bit with his stalkerish ways. We'll see how it plays out...

  8. Glad you found some good book in Feb, esp the one that was so much fun! I was doing so great with reading in Jan, then Feb came and the eye strain screwed things up some, so I don't think I found any WOW books either. Hope you enjoy your March books!

    1. I'm having problems with my wrist Which makes it hard for me to flip pages or use my kindle. It sounds so silly but I can't read easily when it happens.
Let's hope March has WOW books

  12. Even if you're behind now at least you had things scheduled for a bit. :) I bet it was nice not to have to worry about it for a while. I'm almost out of my scheduled posts too. It'll be okay, though. At least that's what I keep telling myself. :)

  14. Go you with the 10-mile bike ride! NO worries.... Sometimes I inexplicably fall off the wagon myself. It happens to all of us.

I really want to read Bad Girls Throughout History and Walden on Wheels! They both sound amazing :) Thanks so much for sharing this review, and hope you're having a great week!!

Blogging ahead... what is this strange thing you speak of? I think the most I’ve ever had pre-scheduled is like... two posts? LOL I’m a total last minute poster. Yesterday I threw together my Top Ten Tuesday post at about 7 pm. LOL

Nice plan of reading for March. I'm curious about your watercolor bad women of history sketches so look forward to your thoughts on it. And the aliens killing with sound... yeah, that has my attention, too.

  21. You sound exactly like me! As soon as you have a bunch of blog posts ready you get too comfortable and end up falling behind. I'd feel bad but it's just so damn relaxing not having to worry about sorting blog posts for a while that it's easy to fall behind. I hope you do read A Princess in Theory because that book is so damn good but I really struggle with reading lists. I'm all about reading what I want.
