Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings and discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.
Topic: Let’s make new friends! Share some of your favorite blogs.
Answer: I’m putting this post together last minute (shocker – I know) so I know I’m going to leave out people and feel awful but let’s get to it!
Besties – bloggers who are my *real life* friends:
Jen Ryland (formally YA Romantics) – I rely on Jen’s judgement and opinions for all things blogging. I call her my blogging yoda. I respect and love Jen and I don’t think I would even still be here without her as my sounding (venting) board. She also has thoughtful, well written reviews, fun quizzes and keeps me up to date on all the new YA releases.
Do You Dog Ear – I’ve known Lindsi for years now – back when her blog was called Books, Sweets and Other Treats. She’s become a very good friend. She has reviews for books of all genres – MG, romance, comics, YA. Something for everyone!
Du Livre – Amber! How can you NOT love Amber??? And she seriously just gets more awesome when you meet her in person. Another go to – trust with all things book-ish blogger friend.
In It for the Long Haul – bloggers I’ve known since the beginning:
Shooting Stars Mag: I’ve known Lauren since I first started blogging waaaay back almost 10 years ago. I *met* her through her charity auctions and have followed her since. She blogs about all kinds of things – book reviews, planner organizing and has great features that I’ve been adapting for my own blog – like local tourist and Glossies (magazines) Made Me Do It. And she is one of the most generous people in our community – quick to pull something together to raise money for a blogger/friend in need and for literacy programs.
Books for Life: Linda is one of the last remaining bloggers from back when I started. One of the first to follow me and I don’t think she has missed commenting on even one post! I love her open and honest style or reviewing (mostly romance) and how laid back she is about the whole thing.
Going Above and Beyond – bloggers going the extra mile for books and authors!
Offbeat YA: Roberta’s blog could make a few categories here – I consider her a friend (even though she’s waaaay over in Italy) but she deserves a special shout out for her dedication to spotlighting indie books and authors – YA and mostly sci-fi but sneaks in a contemporary now and then – basically anything without romance lol. Her reviews are detailed and you can just see how much thought and work she puts into her blog. A true champion of underrated books!
Metaphors and Moonlight: Kristen is another blogger who focuses on indie and small print books. Mostly supernatural and sci-fi but there’s an eclectic mix – also games and her gorgeous artwork and her hilarious adventures with SIMS. She also has a database of books with disabilities and a page that makes finding diverse books, that she’s featured previously, easier. It’s an enormous amount of work!
Diva Book Nerd: Kelly reviews almost exclusively Aussie YA books with strong feminist, diverse voices. And her reviews are a thing of beauty.
The blogger I want to be when I grow up – bloggers whose style I admire:
Rainy Day Ramblings: Heidi has been around for awhile and from what she's said in past posts, I think we’ve followed a similar path in blogging. ARC’s, tours and hype overload followed by burnout – faced with a choice about how to continue. She has chosen to read what she wants, blog how she wants – the path I have chosen as well - and I really look up to and take inspiration from it. She’s still quite the prolific blogger posting reviews of different genres – both YA and adult, hosting this feature and weekly round-ups for books.
My Pixie Blog: My only non book blog featured but I adore Charlotte’s mix of posts. Some product reviews, personal posts, dog fostering stories. I am not not really a fan of most lifestyle blogs but Charlotte is so authentic and approachable and filled with positive vibes. It always makes me happy to visit her blog.
Greg’s Book Haven: I’ve said this before here on my blog but I get to say it again – Greg has the easiest going, most conversational blog out there. He manages to mix books (of all genres), movies, songs, life posts with ease and I see him commenting on every single blog out there – where does he find the time? Is he a robot?
When I think about the future of my blog – it’s his (and Shooting Stars, My Pixie Blog) that I aspire to be.
Where have you been all my blogging life? – recent discoveries:
Chuckles Book Cave: Love the blog name lol but there are also great reviews, lots of rambles (I love a good ramble –especially a ranty one and you get that here) and reviews of books ranging from killer sharks to UF and politics.
Books with Noel: Comics, food, and book reviews plus her weekly My Blogger Friends feature post make this a fun new find!
Feed Your Fiction Addiction: I followed this blog long ago and somehow lost touch but it’s back in my orbit now. Fun mix of reviews – MG, YA, adult, bite-sized reviews (love my mini reviews!) and discussions.
In the Know with Ro: Ro posts about all kinds of random things which I love! Recipes, pop culture, random facts, and is a vocal advocate for victims of domestic violence.
La La In the Library: I’m not sure how I didn’t know about or how I stumbled upon this blog but I’m so happy I did. The blog is a lot of fun but more than that La La (I don’t know her name so that’s what I’m calling her lol) has been a blast to chat with on IG and Twitter.
Olivia’s Catastrophe: Great blog, thoughtful reviews but it’s her book photos that are amazing! She has so much fun with it. She’s also the sweetest, most supportive blogger.
Sunny Buzzy Books: Another blogger that burned out and left but came back on her own terms! She has reviews, of course, but I love her Sunday posts where she chats about life.
It Starts at Midnight: I followed Shannon’s blog years ago and then I didn’t. Why?? No idea lol So many blogs too little time I guess. But I ran into her at ALA and made a point of following again and so glad I did. Her snarky, smart ass sense of humor in her reviews and tv show wrap-ups makes my day.
Ok….so I need to cut off somewhere – just this has taken up most of my day lol but I as I always say – if I ever visit or comment on your blog then I love you and you’re on my blogroll!
Who are your favorite bloggers – leave a link in the comments if I haven’t mentioned them.

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of having T-shirts made 😂.
I recognise some of the bloggers here, but I also realised I'm only following less than a handful of them...others are new to me...and even if it will be a nightmare to be able to keep up with everyone, I'm making a point to start following them, one by one. The community aspect of blogging is becoming more and more important to me - though of course comments are always welcome LOL. But I made peace with my being a small blogger long ago, and even if there's always space for growth, that's not my main reason to follow people anymore, if it ever was...
I really don't follow many blogs. I have a blog roll of about 20-25 that I visit consistently and then try to roll new people in as they pop up on my radar. But so many are *occasional* bloggers now - posting irregularly - so it's easier to keep up.
DeleteI don't comment on blogs to get a follow anymore either. I only follow bloggers I genuinely like. What's really odd is that I only have things in common with about 3 of them regarding books lol It's all about personality and voice to me.
Same here! Almost no one reads my kind of books (except Carrie, but she's not a big fan of sci-fi).
DeleteHaha I've been doing a lot of posts last minute lately too, it's a problem. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such an awesome post- I know most of these bloggers as well (and the ones I don't I need to go check out) and I totally agree with what you say. An awesome bunch. And thank you for including me as well- I'm honored! And humbled to be in fantastic company.
This post could seriously be my new blogroll... :)
I'm never good at getting ahead but I'm baaaaad right now lol
DeleteDang woman, last minute, you put me to shame! I could not even recall which blogs I liked visiting. But hey that is why to me you are a blogging inspiration :D
ReplyDeleteI must admit to referring to my blog roll lol
DeleteAhhh... love our list. Thanks for the kind words. So many bloggers on here I need to get know.
ReplyDeleteI hope you find a new one Heidi!
Delete*blushes to the end of days* AW SHUCKS. Love you too boo. This is such an extensive list and I like how you broke it down.
ReplyDeleteGreg churns out blog posts like it's nothing, definitely aspirational!
I KNOW!! And every post is awesome. Like how????
DeleteSuch a great list. I follow just about everyone on there.
ReplyDeleteI do always see you around all of these blogs :-)
DeleteBlogging role model I am not, says Jen Yoda.
ReplyDeleteBut thanks and right back at you!
PS You have met Amber in person - no fair!!!
I should say that you are my reading Yoda - You're really good at judging what I'll like or not like but you are definitely my go to person with any blogging problems or to vent so THANK YOU!
DeleteI love Kelly and Amber! Also, I'm the opposite on your recent discoveries. Nicole from Feed Your Fiction Addiction, Shannon from It Starts at Midnight, and Chuckles were the first I ever found out about :)
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
That's funny. I discover a lot of blogs reading the comments section - that's how I found Chuckle's and, like I said, I had followed Nicole and Shannon and then somehow wasn't following anymore - don't know why though lol
DeleteAww, thanks for this! I really appreciate it, and you KNOW I love you and your blog and I hope you continue blogging for years and years (just do it your way!) I like that you included Charlotte from My Pixie Blog. She's super lovely, and I love her so much too. I got to meet her last November and it was wonderful!!

I seemed to have gotten over the I want to quit phase lol I think the key for me is finally letting go of what I think a book blog *should* be and just post whatever I want. Way less stress!
DeleteThanks very much for the shout out! I admit I do love a bit of a rant! It's good for the blood pressure!
ReplyDeleteI used to be quite ranty myself on here. Not sure why I haven't lately but I love a good rant.
DeleteThere are a lot of these that are new to me--excited to explore their blogs!
ReplyDeleteI hope you find some new blogs to follow Lori! It was fun to put together (& hard to limit it to this already too long list lol)
DeleteWe should go to another book convention together!!
ReplyDeleteLindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? 💬
I have NO idea when that will be! I'm way over here and my finances have changed dramatically lol But I hope we can one day!
DeleteI promise not to throw anything at you...
DeleteThere are some great blogs on this list! I'm totally with you on Amber! I love getting to hang out with her in person! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's the best!
DeleteI know a few of those bloggers as well. My list would be just as long.
ReplyDeleteI could have added AT LEAST 10 more lol
DeleteThank you Karen! I think this may be the first time I've ever made someone's list! lol Made my day when I found out.
ReplyDeleteI love a lot of these bloggers too (and yours!) and the one's I don't know I'll be checking out. :)
Well, here you go!! Hope you find some new ones too.
DeleteWell you are just THE sweetest! And I am the least punctual, as this tab has been open since Tuesday hahah. But I really appreciate your kind words- I needed them a little extra this week, so thank you ♥ I am so, so glad that you re-found me!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your lovely words <3 I feel like I have been super absent and not so great at being supportive lately :( But I try my best! And I do love the photos. I also know quite a few of the bloggers on this list and they are truly wonderful people <3
