Since I’m down to under 50 books on my TBR pile (WHOOP!!) it frees up some time to try a few other bookish things.
Dog Days of Summer Celebration – hosted by La La in the Library & Jo’s Book club
The goal is to read as many dog related books during the month of August. There are giveaways, an IG BINGO challenge and lots of fun posts.
I don’t know exactly what I’ll be reading for this but – DOG DAYS OF SUMMER – I mean – I had to join in right??
I’m also hoping to tie this in with my library challenge below.
I’m joining in with Cornerfolds 10 day event indie book event (September 1–10th) hosted by Tracey from Cornerfolds
I’ll be using it to clear the Angelfall trilogy off my shelf. I have the whole series and even started it last year but keep losing track some how. I’m also hoping to add 1 or two other posts for the event as well.
There will also be mini challenges, a treasure hunt, and giveaways. There are no set books you need to read – you can read any indie book you want! but there are participating authors (with books available on Hoopla, KU and even a few review copies.
You can also write a variety of posts styles - reviews, lists, host a challenge! There’s still time to join in so contact Tracey if you’re interested.
2019 Library Love Challenge – Hosted by Angel’s Guilty Pleasure #LibraryLoveChallenge
As most of you know, the majority of my reading is from the library now. A HUGE change for me since it used to be ZERO. So I decided to join in with Angel’s library love challenge. I’ve already read about 25-30 library books but I didn’t keep track that well so I’ll start with August and pick the Overdrive Junkie – 36 books level
You can sign up at any time – and earn entries for giveaways with reviews.

80 books.
I met my 50 book goal in July so I’m upping it to 80
Are you participating in any challenges? Any dog book recommendations for me? NOTHING SAD!!
I can't bear books where the dog dies! It's too upsetting! I worry about the dog in every book I read!
ReplyDeleteNooo dead dogs - even if the message is mostly up lifting. lol
Delete"Any dog book recommendations for me? NOTHING SAD!!"
ReplyDeleteš Of course! We should free poor dogs from having to die to keep the story going. Let's start a movement!
Good luck with your challenges - I hope you find some indie to appreciate (recs? you know I have a blog full of them LOL).
I have a few taht I already own that I've been thinking of and one series Susan Ee's Angelfall trilogy that's on her recommended list (although you can read whatever you want).
DeleteI actually read a lot of indie books - but mroe romance so we dont' overlap.
Dog books, eeek. They do tend to be sad.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your challenges
I know. I've been searching all weekend but haven't found anything I want to read yet. I also hate books about "awful" dogs that are supposed to be funny because I've trained dogs and it's usually the owners fault. Not a bad dog. lol
DeleteOooo enjoy your challenges!
ReplyDeleteI'm challege challenged but we'll see how it goes!
DeleteUnder 50 books on your TBR??!!! Teach me your ways, o wise one! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with all the challenges!!
I REALLY buckled down on ARC's and that made a huge difference. i also din't go to any conferences this year so not many new incoming books.
DeleteThat is awesome that you are so caught up on your TBR. I am getting closer with mine. I read so many books from the library these days, it really helps alleviate the pressure! No challenges for me, I am trying to coast through to the end of the summer and blog ahead.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I'll do on the cahllenges because I suck at them lol but the library one should be easy peasy because that's how I read now and Iv'e been wanting to clear off the ANgelfall trilogy anyway.
DeleteThe dog one is tougher because nothign sad lol
My challenges are struggling although I am on track with my goodreads challenge. But have been distracted lately with my podcasts launching this summer. But its slowly getting back to normal. So hopefully I will be able to get caught up with my challenges. Hope you are having a lovely Monday darlin'!!
ReplyDeleteBut you have this whole new endevour!!!
DeleteGood luck with all the challenges. Dog books are tough for me, because the author's always seem to kill the dog. I have trust issues now.
ReplyDeleteAGREED. I'm thinking graphic novels or childrens books with dogs. They're shorter and, hopefully, happier.
DeleteGAH I am so glad you posted about the Indie event because I remembered that I needed to open the email because I am a mess of a person! I LOVED Angelfall, so I hope you do too! I won't lie, any book I can recall a dog in is probably not ending great for anyone š Also only 50 books on your TBR!?!? Teach me your wayyyssssss! I am not participating in any challenges really. I don't even participate with my OWN challenge very well, so. What a mess I am hahha.
ReplyDeleteOPEN YOUR EMAIL SHANNON lol
DeleteNot being able to go to nay conferences this year really helped with the TBR pile lol
Say what???? What magical skills do you possess to whittle down your TBR pile? Can we set up an appointment for you to come to my place to help me figure it out, please?(lol) That's pretty dang impressive! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteJust hunkering downa dn reading what I have whiel nto requesting many new books has done the trick.
DeleteAnd with the move I haven't had $$to buy many new books.
The only dog book I can think of is Marley and Me... or maybe you should read books that have a prominent pet character in which case I can think of a couple of Jennifer Crusie books to read. This is actually really hard but I wish you all the luck with that challenge. I kind of want to do a reading challenge to help motivate me to read maybe I'll try that next month find a good September one.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm thinking books as a side thing or children's books. It's hard to find ones that aren't sad. Craig and Fred was a really good one though!
DeleteI feel like so many dog books are sad...lol Do you like cozy mysteries? I know there are some that are dog themed! Yay for using your library more. I love getting books from mine, and I'm in a library led book club too. :)

Yes! I have one with a corgie on my Kindle so I think I'll give that a go.
DeleteGood luck on your challenges. I don't usually participate in any but I did make a goal to read and review 100 books this year. I'm at 79 books right now.
ReplyDeleteI suck at challenges so I don't do them other than GR's but since I have soem wiggle room now I thought I'd try.
DeleteThe library one is like the GR's one though - I'm already doing it so why not count them lol
I'm only participating in the G oodreads reading challenge, and of course, my own personal challenge to reach 2K reads before the end of the year.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new goodreads goal!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the indie books challenge but I'm challenged out. I need to focus on the annual ones I joined back in January... I'm falling so far behind them but at least I'm bossing my goodreads. :)
Thanks again for the heads up on the indie book read-a-thon. š
ReplyDeleteYay for #DDOS! I am so happy you found some dog books to read. Thanks for joining in! š¾✨
