FOROOTP - Fear of running out of toilet paper
It's strange times people. Strange times. File this under things I never thought I would be worrying about.
~ Do I REALLY need to pee this many times a day?
~ How few squares can I use – TMI: for the record I’m down to 3 squares.
~ Maybe I should use the How Much Toilet Paper calculator to see how long my tp will last. (apparently 40 days)
~ Resenting men who can just *shake it off*
~ Which leaves and natural options are soft and won’t cause a rash?
~ Should I start thinking about installing a DIY bidet?
~ Please God - don't let anyone ask me for a spare square. Don't put me in that position! lol
I used to be gone over 12 hours a day. So, my poor bladder wasn't making a dent in my personal TP too much, but being home, I am definitely going through more. My sister had a near breakdown on the phone about TP. She is a teacher, and they have to be logged on from 9am - 2pm, with a call coming at some point during those hours to check up on them. Her lament is that she misses the TP window at the market. I don't know if such a window exists, because I was there on Sat and Tues, and there was not a square to spare.
ReplyDeleteOur stores seem pretty well stocked on everything except tp. I always buy a 12 pack out of laziness but I had gotten mine and didn't want to hoard so I didn't get more.
DeleteOur paper towels are getting restocked so hopefully tp is to follow lol
And I hear eggs are the next thing. Either their out or the price is sky high.
I order my paper products on Walmart.com and have for months. I checked yesterday and they have everything still in stock so I won't worry about that. I'm more worried about milk, eggs and bread.
ReplyDeleteWe're doing pretty good here. We run a little low on meat sometimes but restock quickly. Only tp is almost always out of stock. I'm sure I have enough though.
DeleteI needed the laugh LOL. It's funny though, because TP is always in stock here. It must be a US tradition, to drown yourself in TP during an emergency 😂.
ReplyDeleteIt is not, in fact, an American thing. I've never seen anything like it. Lol
DeleteI suppose you could always just twerk it out. ahahaHaHaHa
ReplyDeleteBack when everything started to happen, I was recommending that my coworkers look into a snap-on bidet for their toilets so that if TP ever because non-existent, they'd be fine. So I clearly wasn't the only one thinking along those lines. And in case you are wondering, with my Ultra-strong Charmin... I'm down to two squares. HaHaHaHa
You can see the future!!!
DeleteOMG, SO uses So much TP. I am all cut it out
ReplyDeleteHa! She'll grow up and remember the days mommy wouldn't let me use more than 2 squares of tp lol
DeleteI couldn't find TP anywhere either but then I went to Costco and they had some and were handing it out one pack per customer so I bought one... Being costco, it's like 48 rolls so I'm stocked until at least summer! lol
ReplyDeleteSuch a strange thing for people to have been panic buying!
They may have gotten more in stock there. I stopped going to the *big city * lol
DeleteI am not too worried about it to be honest, its made here in the states so we will always have it. The issue is people panic buying which stores here have started to implement restrictions on how much a person can take. We still have some at our Costco, they guard it now. lol But a CT from Costco will last me 6 months. So I am good. But yeah toilet paper isn't something I ever thought I would worry about.
ReplyDeleteI have enough so I'm not super worried but I also didn't think it was something I had to think about at all lol
Delete"How few squares can I use – TMI: for the record I’m down to 3 squares." this made me laugh. :)
ReplyDeleteWe're almost out! And the stores have none haha. Crazy times indeed. If you had told me that a global pandemic would hit and THIS would be one of the shopping probems we'd have, I would have been skeptical lol. SMH. I don't even know what a bidet IS, but clearly I need to find out! O.o
You dont' know what a bidet is?! Basically sprays water up there lol
DeleteI will never understand the rush for toilet paper. Never. Weeks ago, when this all started we were out of toilet paper but still had tons of actual food which makes ZERO sense to me.
I'm on two squares for a normal toilet visit (in number one territory)-but I do use triple quilted so it is soft and strong! I always buy bog roll when it is on sale so I always have a good stock to see me through and I haven't had to fight panic buyers for it! I'm not going near the supermarkets with all the panic going on. I can get my bread and milk maybe once a week from a local shop and that will see me through as I always keep my fridge, freezer and cupboards stocked.
ReplyDeleteI always buy a 12-24 pack and it lasts forever. And I didn't want to be one of those hoarders when I already had 15 rolls at home but now I'm wondering. I have enough for a month - at least - but didn't factor in stupidity. lol
DeleteThis is hilarious and terrifying because it is TRUE. I did the calculator too, but I really don't think I can do just three! And the kids, forget it, they use wayyy too much. Even Sammy 😂 You are right, it's bananas what we are worried about!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't worried at all because I had bought a 24 pack before all this happened and it's just the two of us but...as I use each roll and no more comes back in stock lol
DeleteOkay, this is hilarious but also so totally true. The Husband managed to find t.p. At the Commissary last Sunday. They had a limit of 2 so he bought two, took them to the car, went back in and bought two more, making sure to use a different cashier. LOL We’re trying t make sure we have enough of everything for both us and my mother since I’d rather her not be out and about. She’s a high risk group.
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy! I had bought a 24 pack before and didn't bother when everyone was going crazy. But this was 3-4 weeks ago and things are just getting worse and it's going to be longer than planned obviously.
DeleteHaha! You know, it's funny how when you have to conserve, how you start second-guessing every little thing! I just had to have a conversation with all four of my kids about not using too much TP! ;) And, my husband's always been a semi-prepper so we aren't running out any time soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope you find more TP!!!
I have at least 20 rolls so I'm good but I didn't expect this to go on as long as it has and everyone to go crazy buying it.
DeleteYeah I've bumped myself down to one fewer square than usual lol, but I'm ok with tp for the moment. Hopefully they'll continue restocking and it won't be a problem, now that everyone is stocked up for a while.
ReplyDeleteI have enough but with the hysteria it makes you start rationing. lol
DeleteAfter I posted this I'm proud to say with an advanced folding technique I am down to 2 squares bahahahaha!!
Toilet paper is definitely the weirdest. I am also fanatical about hand soaps and hand sanitiser too. Also? I went in at 7.30 over here to see what panic buying was about and ended up standing in line to get some TP bc honestly, the media and the hysteria was getting to me
ReplyDeleteYes! I have enough tp but everyone buying ALL the tp makes me nervous that I won't be able to get it later when I run low. I didn't want to be one of the hoarders.
DeleteI think the TP craze has calmed down, at least some. They got TP in at my son's store on his day off and there was still some left the next day when he went in to work. Fingers crossed. From now on I'm going to make sure we are ahead a 20 pack. We usually don't buy a new one until we are down to around six rolls. We lucked out this time. Ha ha. 🚽
ReplyDeleteMy new thing is I'm now a cough hypochondriac. Every time I cough I try to ascertain what kind of a cough it is and then I feel my forehead to see if I feel hot. 🙈
Stay safe and have a wonderful, and healthy, week. 🌞
We're the same. I buy a 12-24 pack when I'm down to 6 but I never expected a shortage!
DeleteOMG the cough!!!! I have a chronic dry cough so not only do I freak strangers out I worry if it's a little more than usual?? Then the other day I was sweating and sure I was about to die lol
haha This is great. My family is doing okay when it comes to toilet paper, but it's still something we look for when we go to the grocery store, as it's almost always out. It's just crazy. I live in a house with four grown adults, and I'm now looking from home, so we can definitely go through a lot in just a week.

We had a lot from before but now Kevin's home so we're using more and I never expecting it to be an ongoing rationing issue lol
DeleteOMG - this had me laughing so much!(lol) Luckily, I'm that person who has a little bit of OCD when it comes to bleach, Pine-Sol and toilet paper, so I already keep a lot of that in the house anyway, thankfully. But it was crazy to see all those empty shelves in Dollar General, Food Lion and Aldi's a week or so ago, but I fear it will continue to get worse. Hope you're hanging in there. Sending many hugs your way. RO
ReplyDeleteI'm the same. It's just the 2 of us and I had already bought a 24 pack but now I'm worried I can't get it again a month form now the way everyone is buying it up!
DeleteI'm glad you had a laugh.
'Do I REALLY need to pee this many times a day?' THIS IS SO ME. Especially as I drink 2L of water a day ahaha. I also can't believe a toilet paper actually exists :P
ReplyDeleteI'm a big water drinker too and now I'm worried about it lol
DeleteRight? Isn't it weird? We have four in the house - two females, two males. I order from Amazon and get a delivery every two months. We are going through more, though, because we are all home all the time. I was at the store on Monday, and they had some 12 packs. I bought one. (I am using it, but I would have been fine for another 3 weeks!) I used to go to the store 3-5 times/week. Having to plan ahead and thaw meat is tough!
