I feel like I'm finally hitting my groove reading-wise. I've cleared out two physical books (for the first time in almost 2 years) and usually have one audio and one other format book going at once now.
I don't have any arc's so it's all very low pressure. I wasn't so much a slump as I just haven't felt like reading. I don't feel like I need to read now but it also feels nice to be getting back to something I used to enjoy so much.
READ:
The Zombie Stone by K.G. Campbell ~ Goodreads
I really have to thank the author for being so patient with me on this one. He sent me a finished hardcover copy to review ages ago. I did inform him that my reading was not going great at the moment but still...I should have read it sooner.
This is a sequel to A Small Zombie Problem (review) - a really cute mid-grade series about a awkward, shy boy named August Dupont and his (unwelcome) zombie companions. This installment is about August trying to find a stone that will send his zombie pals back to the grave.
I'll have a full review up in a week or so.
READING:
Out of Character (True Colors #2) by Annabeth Albert ~ Goodreads I really love Albert's M/M romances, although her recent ones have fallen a little short for me. This one is NA (New Adult) and very sweet so far.
It follows Jasper and Milo as they try to recover a rare gamer card that Milo lost on a game. Second chance romance, cosplay, good deeds, make this a fun one so far.
I'm listening to it on audio and I dislike both narrators but I really like both characters and their sincerity and kindness shines though so I'm going to stick with the audio for now although it's also available as an e-book on Hoopla.
What are you reading this week? Have you read anything you loved and recommend?
Monday inspiration...
I read the previous book in Albert's series and I thought it was cute. I hope this one works out for you
ReplyDeleteI read the first one and this is very similar in tone. It's cute so far!
DeleteI saw Out of Character and thought it was YA, oops!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it has more of a gentle YA feel but they are in college and have more adult problems.
DeleteI can't wait to read Out of Character! I hope you're enjoying your Monday. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou too Joy! I hope you like it. It's cute.
DeleteI just started Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian. It's an Arthurian legend retelling.
ReplyDeleteOh interesting. Enjoy!
DeleteI'm glad you're getting your reading grove back. The zombie book sounds cute! I'm always on the lookout for interesting middle grade books.
ReplyDeleteIs a cute series. This one felt more like filter but I still enjoyed it.
DeleteI'm so glad you are finding your groove and reading for enjoyment again! I've got quite the ARC collection right now, so I'm looking forward to working through it and reading some just for fun titles again soon.
ReplyDeleteI needed the break from obligations. I may do my toes back in with arc's but for now, it feels good to pick whatever - whenever lol
DeleteWhat interesting, unusual books. And I laughed at your Monday inspiration. Do you know what workaholics say? "Thank God It's Monday!"
ReplyDeleteLol I don't think I know anyone who enjoys Mondays. Do you?
DeleteGlad to hear Out of Character is pretty good!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit behind on my Netgalley ARCs, but my reading in general has been going well. LOL It's always a mix. I'm glad you're reading is going well at the moment!

Reading is reading. I'm just Haku in having fun with it and have zero obligations.
DeletePass some of that reading mojo this way... I'm still not reading much, but I'm watching a ton of shows all of a sudden. I might as well call it Show Haven now...
ReplyDeleteOut Of Character looks good.
Love that shark quote :)
Hahaha Show Haven. Honestly, that's what kept me from blogging for so long. I just did not feel like reading it talking about books and I watched so many things that I lost track lol
DeleteI'm reading but not even close to what I used to. I've read 24 books this year so far. As opposed to over 200.
Yes my reading is DOWN. So I haven't even started replying to Sunday Post comments yet, but I saw yours on on Black Summer. That show is a TRIP. The last episode was total adrenaline!I didn't like the guy that showed the resort either- he was too weird for me. And what's going on with that end???
DeleteAwww the zombie one!
ReplyDeleteIt's surprisingly gruesome for a mid-grade lol
DeleteIt's been a hot minute since I've read anything by Annabeth Albert. Her books usually fell into the good-not-great category for me. (And that's not a bad thing.) But disliking both narrators - that's the death knell for me. Couldn't do it. At least you really like the characters.
ReplyDeleteI love that shark quote. I don't care how many times I see it, I laugh every time. :)
I really loved her earlier books but the past year or so have been eh to a miss for me.
DeleteI don't know why but even though I don't like the voices for this one - they also seem like THEM so I'm sticking with it.
No pressure reading is nice. That first one sounds really cute!
ReplyDeleteIt is cute!
