I have been really wanting to blog for weeks now but...I haven't *felt like blogging* lol Does that make any sense??
I miss everyone and want to chat about things but actually sitting down and typing posts - not so much.
I'll be doing the quickest of updates then share a silly reenactment of the Ripley/Kai incident that happened over the weekend. Because THAT'S what I felt like doing when I sat at the computer instead of typing a review π€£
READ/READING:
What We Buried by Kate A Boorman - I swear I will eventually write a review about this one because it was an unusual and trippy book that I liked a lot.
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid - I started listening to this on audio and it's a dnf for me. I don't really care about poor little rich/famous people and their family problems and parties. The narrator is making the story sound like a cheesy Hollywood documentary instead of being engaging. It could be because it's 3rd person? I don't know but I give up lol
I have Roxy by Neal and Jarrod Shusterman coming up for review but I feel like it's going to be a heavy read that I need to concentrate on so we'll see.
XOXO by Axie Oh - I had jury duty (another story to tell) so I wanted something light to read while I had to wait. Everyone loves and recommended this - plus no hold! But, of course, I didn't have time to read during jury duty and it expired but I checked it out again and hope to start it today.
WATCHING:
I'm watching my backlog of 2020 Hallmark movies starting with Fall Fest and through Christmas (last year). I think I've watched 5 (out of 29 lol) so far. Nothing really stands out.
An Astrological Guide for Broken Hearts on Netflix It's an Italian rom-com series (1season so far) and kind of wacky but endearing. HUGE ass cliffie at the end so be warned.
The Harder They Fall on Netflix - Good western - LOTS of blood and gore, good acting (especially Regina King). I was kind of surprised it was a first time director because it was done so well - with the look and pacing.
Love Hard on Netflix is a new Christmas movie and is a super cute fake dating rom-com. I LOVED the guy, it didn't drag out toooo long or get too wacky so it was ππ from me and my movie date friend.

Sooooo....Saturday we decided to take the dogs to the park and we always take them in the enclosed tennis court to chase their ball. They get nice and tired and we don't have to do much except throw a ball.
Anyway - Kevin threw the ball, they ran and full speed...toward each other and jumped up to get the ball and exact same time and CRACK. I heard the noise and saw Kai's head twist and panicked.
Ripley was still bouncing around trying to get me to throw the ball so I thought she was fine but then saw a big string of bloody drool swing out lol
She cracked a front tooth down the root and, miraculously, (if you've heard about my vet situation out here) I was able to get her seen by a vet that Monday. It needs to come out but she can't get in until January. But she's a toughie and is acting at 100%. In fact, I've had to take all her bones and balls away because she still tries to chew on things like nothing happened. She even continued to play for another 1/2 hour after it happened.
So that's a wrap-up of my fascinating life lol What have you all been up to? Any reading or watching rec's?
*I hope to be back regularly-ish soon - but we all know I will likely spend more time making a Thanksgiving dog theme banner instead lol
I saw your update abut this on Twitter. Glad to know they are both doing alright though.
ReplyDeleteShe does need the surgery but at least she seems fine until then and it's a vet I like.
DeletePoor baby! Cracked tooth gotta hurt. I hope you get a chance to read XOXO. It was a makes-me-happy book.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't seem to be in any pain, thankfully! She just Yoakum shook it off while Kai had a meltdown over way less lol
DeleteI'm in the mood for XOXO So I'm hoping I have time to read before it expires.
Oh goodness! Poor babies. I'm glad they are both doing okay, though hopefully Ripley's tooth will be okay until they can get in.
ReplyDeleteI have Roxy to read/review as well, but yeah, I've been a bit hit or miss on the books I've been reading so we'll see when I get to that. hah
Lauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
She can't get in until January but it looks to be healing up ok in the meantime. It broke right at the gum line and is fractured below so it still needs to come out but not an emergency.
DeleteMy MIL read Roxy and liked it. If only I could get her to review it for me lol
Ooh my god i’d have panicked too!! Though i’m glad that only one of my two is a ball maniac π€£ Happened before that she’d run in a wall or hit something and while we’re all « Ohh sorry Sheik!! » she just keep playing like nothing ever happened π One time I fell on her.. as mother threw her ball beside me as I was doing my yoga and I lost my balance π€
ReplyDeleteYep that feels like a good ol’ blogging slump π hopefully that’d pass you pretty soon.. happy reading & watching in the meantime! Xx
Kristina @ books-and-dachshunds.com
Yeah - it's much more likely they'll do something that makes ME break something lol
DeleteI kind of roll with the the slumps now. This one is kind of weird in that I do feel like blogging but never feel like typing lol
There you are! I was wondering when you'd post again... :) no pressure lol.
ReplyDeleteMalibu rising- good to know. I wanna read more TJR but not everything...
Holy crap! Glad she's okay!
Most people loved Malibu Rising - more than Daisy Jones so ignore me lol It was more the audio. I'm doing better with them but still super picky about narrators.
DeleteI'm still here-ish lol I'm going to try to be better at posting at least once a week.
Oh your poor babies! I'm glad you were able to get into the vet already. My girl and I haven't started the Holiday Romance Movies yet... But that new one on Netflix sounds good. We always enjoy binging holiday rom-coms.
ReplyDeleteWe are good here. I feel like I'm busy everyday, but can't think of anything I've done. I went to visit a friend for her birthday a couple weeks ago. Took my daughter to the movies yesterday... Work, read, etc.
What movie did you see? I haven't been out to the movies since before COVID :-(
DeleteWe went to see Eternals. I've been to the movies 4 times - to see each of the Marvel movies and then Dune. I go to the recliner seats and matinees so it's pretty open and spread apart. I also wear my mask if I'm next to a stranger.
DeleteDid you like it? I was curious about that one. I watched Dune on Disney+
DeleteI miss my recliner seats lol We had them in FL but we have to drive towards Portland for them here.
We have a small independent movie theatre that is requiring vaccines and follows all the distancing/masks stuff so we're thinking of trying there soon. They don't have the big popular movies like the Eternals but they do have good ones. I think they even had Dune.
Poor dogs. I'm glad they're mostly okay. Every dog I've owned has eventually broken a tooth or two, and they never seem bothered by it.
ReplyDeleteI've had several with broken teeth (one lost all of her front teeth smashing into a coffee table lol
DeleteI was more worried about not being able to get her in anywhere and it being broken down to the gum. It's SUPER hard to get into vet out here right now.
Yikes! Scary... happy it can be looked back on and chuckled about now. That was one freaky accident. π―
ReplyDeleteI'm happy it was just a tooth. They play really hard sometimes!
DeleteOh, what a horrible dog-story. So sorry you had to endure that. :(
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems ok (other than Ripley needing the tooth removed). Honestly, it's more about the horrible vet situation out here. It is ridiculously hard to get in - even in an emergency.
DeleteAwww poor Kai! Poor hyper klutz babies.
ReplyDeleteI started watching holiday movies in the background yesterday. Lifetime has a lot I want to see (I made a spreadsheet) and Love Hard looks cute. Did you see the trailer for Single All the Way?
I think I'm going to drift more towards Lifetime this year. Hallmark's have been mostly duds.
DeleteI did see the trailer!!
"What We Buried by Kate A Boorman - I swear I will eventually write a review about this one because it was an unusual and trippy book that I liked a lot."
ReplyDeleteAnd because I asked you nicely? LOL.
Of course I knew about the dog incident from Twitter, but the reenactment was fun! Erm, I mean, poor babies (BTW, I loved your pupdate pun). It's a good thing that Ripley is a toughie (Kevin's name choice for her was so apt LOL).
If only I had any motivation lol
DeleteRipley is hardcore lol Kai was a trembling puddle of goo. He was bleeding at first but nothing got knocked loose or anything.
Oh goodness how scary, I'm glad that the dogs are mostly okay! I'm sorry you have to wait until January, such a long time to try and keep her from hurting herself further.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I know exactly what you mean about wanting to blog but not wanting to actually get on and blog. Been there plenty of times!
At this point, I'm just happy to get into a good vet. It's horrible out here right now trying to get someone to see you.
DeleteBlogging is a struggle right now lol
I'm clutching my heart at the Malibu Rising comments. lol I did a combination hardcover read/audio listen and really enjoyed both. Not my favorite by TJR but still a great story.
ReplyDeleteYikes, glad everyone is (mostly) recovered from the Great Ball Incident.
lol *I'M SORRY*
DeleteAudio is still a really rough format for me. I'm so much better but narrators are tricky.
Yay Love hard.
ReplyDeleteI have wondered about the Italian one, but ugh subs! I usually blog, watch with one eye and listen
Yeah, this was a buddy watch with my friend so eye on the tv lol
DeleteUnusual and trippy sounds fun! I'll have to check out Love Hard in Dec. Yikes, I'm glad Kai is ok and that Ripley seems relatively unbothered!
ReplyDeleteIT was kind of a cool book - just from it being about a brother/sister - no romance and unconventional ending.
DeleteRipley will still need surgery (can't get in until Jan) but she doens't seem to care about it at all lol
Your poor puppies. I feel like our vets must shake their heads when they see us coming. XD
ReplyDeleteShe was like...do you know how it happened and I said oh yeah - head on collision - saw and heard the whole thing lol
DeleteOh, I can just imagine how scary it must've been when your pups crashed!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
The sound was awful. And Kai twisted so I thought he broke something. I guess it could have been worse.
