I'm trying something a bit new so that I can get at least 2 posts a week up. The TMST is fairly simple and I should be able to draft answers ahead of time. I say should...because I'm me and probably won't do that lol
I've also started doing an ongoing draft on the weekend and just jot down what I'm reading/watching/doing or upload pics as the week progresses. Then I just have to add a few sentences/links for the post to be ready to go on Friday. That's the hope anyway.
So here's what happened in my little corner this week...
After 3 gorgeous days of warm sunshine, we got 1 week (and still going) of cold, rain and snow. Not nice Mother Nature. Not nice. So mostly a week of indoor stuff.
BAKING:
WATCHING:
Season 2 Fargo - Hulu - S2 is a prequel to S1 - I won't say why because it could be a spoiler - but was kind of slow for the first 1/2 of the season and IMO, overly long at 10 episodes. Everything is really picking up & we're enjoying it now (episode 6) but really, it could have been wrapped sooner. There are a few characters I really like though (especially Ted Danson as a cop and his son-in-law, played by Lou Solverson ) & a few people I would like to see die a slow, horrible death lol, so we're in it until the end.
READING:
I'm listening to Lights Out in Lincolnwood by Geoff Rodkey.
The entire technological grid shuts down in NYC and from Goodreads:
"Over four transformative, chaotic days, this privileged but clueless American family will struggle to hold it together in the face of water shortages, paramilitary neighbors, and the well-mannered looting of the local Whole Foods as they try to figure out just what the hell is going on."
They also call it "mordantly funny" but so far, there's a lot of setup and very little survival or funny going on. But it's not bad so I'll stick with it.
Spam comments. I was doing my regular search of the spam comment to make sure none of you had been thrown in comment jail and found these comments. They just crack me up. Harsh! lol They were on posts almost a decade old. WTF?
Why waste the energy? Kevin believes it's just bots and they hit thousands of blogs with all kinds of comments just to get a click back. Sorry to disappoint you bot (or actual person) but I just laughed and deleted.
Finally, As much as I hate my current weather and long for a warming spring - I'm trying to find the beauty in what we have blah. blah, blah 😂 I love how the little raindrop is translucent enough for the pattern of the leaf to peek through.
The bagel bread looks delish and I like the sound of your asiago seasoning. Homemade breads always sound so good but I am highly intimidated by working with yeast. It seems like it would be so tricky with requiring a specific temperature. I am certain of failure so I've never tried. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm terrified of yeast (& kneading) too!! My secret is I do no-knead recipes that you just mix with tepid - regular temp water using instant yeast (instead of active). Both my sourdough and this one are no- knead. They just mix, sit overnight , then shape and bake.
DeleteSecret #2 for recipes that use active yeast and need kneading is - I have a bread machine lol I use the dough only function so it does all the work, then I take it our after the first rise and bake in my oven so it' has the shape and crust I want.
Okay, well, that doesn't sound quite so intimidating. :)
DeleteOmg I love those spam comments. I mean they are mean! But at least they are not of the Lets get it on kind. They are just weird
ReplyDeleteYeah, those would be bad. These were just funny to me, even if they were insulting lol
DeleteGotta love spam. I have never seen a bot be so negative. Usually they lavish me with praise. Cooking some fancy stuff over there. Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteSame. Mine are usually, I've never seen such great posts, so random they don't maybe sense oror buy...whatever.
DeleteThanks!
OMG. I wish my spam comments were just something like those two. They'd also make me laugh. My spam comments are mostly gibberish, male enhancement ads, and something in Russian or Chinese. Lol.
ReplyDeleteYour bread and brownies look delicious. I'm never had ube before, but I'm really curious. I'll have to see if our TJ has the jam.
I'm glad you're trying to post more regularly. I miss reading your updates and other posts. I understand, though. Sometimes, you just don't have the energy or motivation. Good luck, anyway!
I think it's funny too. I've never had those kind before. I get the jibberish and 100 links to buy shoes or something lol
DeleteThe jam is limited time seasonal thing - usually in June. I had never had it either but my niece happened to be visiting and she was going crazy trying to find it because her UT TJ's was already out lol They also do pancake mixes and ice cream with it.
I know you've gone through this too, but some times, I just don't have the energy to DO THE POST but I also miss sharing and chatting. One day I'll figure out an easier way of posting lol I'm also glad you are around more. I think of you often.
That bread looks like it would make excellent toast.
ReplyDelete"This was dum AF" that one killed me.
Join my Discord if you want. I hate to spam you, but... I honestly think it'll be fun. I'm hoping to be active there, do some readlongs or just... talk about life. Like twitter used t obe lol.
That was my favorite too but the STFU up my own blog is pretty funny.
DeleteI'll take a look and see if I still have my discord info.
Wow! Everything bagel bread! I've never heard of that, but it's such an interesting concept!
ReplyDeleteIt was a King Arthur bake of the week. Great bread for toast or sandwiches.
DeleteThe spam comments are too funny.
ReplyDeleteI love baking but I can't eat bread or sweets unless they are sugar free so now I bake vegetable and chicken casseroles. lol It's not the same! Your bread looks so good though.
I can't have acidic or overly spicy. I don't too many sweets anyway. A lot of this goes to work with my husband after I set aside a few pieces for me.
DeleteI love casseroles too.
I've never heard the phrase "mordantly funny" before LOL. It amuses me.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite spam comment is "no". Brief and incisive...mordantly so 🤣.
It's raining almost every day here as well. The temps are still springlike, though...I'm bracing for an intolerable heat in the summer.
Good luck with the new schedule (...SCHEDULE???!!!???) and your adventures in bakery...
Really? It just means dark or black humor.
DeleteI know....NO. No what? Just NO. lol
Just in the 3 hours I ran errands this morning, it snowed, rained, hailed, and the sun came out.
I love seeing all of your baking. I just don't really bake at all.
ReplyDeleteMy girl and I binged the new live-action Avatar (I'm a HUGE fan of the original), It was visually lovely and stayed fairly true to the source material, but there were changes I didn't care for. I also started watching Silo (Apple) and I'm hooked.
I've never baked in my life so this is weird lol
DeleteWe liked Silo! I've never seen any of the various Airbender things
