my monday musings

I posted a few holiday themed question prompts for my December Book Giveaway. People seem to be having fun with it so I thought I would give it a go and answer them myself.

Would you rather experience a Christmas in 1700 or in 2100?

Definitely 2100.

I was not cut out to be all prim and proper, worry about flashing my ankle or all idiotic rules I’m supposed to follow as a lady of society.

If I was a servant – that would be a whole other problem because I probably wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut then either. lol

The year 2100 might be a fiery hellscape at the rate we’re going but I think I’ll be able to just hole up in my futuristic house and beam me up a pie or something.

Would you rather only be able to watch your favorite TV show during the holidays or have to watch it every day of the year?

I could go either way with this one.

I don’t really have FAVORITES. I have shows I love or enjoy but I could watch them a lot - like I do with my sitcoms and cartoons like Bob’s Burgers in syndication, or be happy with once a year - like I do with A Christmas Story and Elf.

Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity?

*Confessions of an introvert…I don’t have a group of friends and even if I did – I wouldn’t want to spend the holidays with them lol

I’m not overly impressed by celebrities so I would pass on that one too.

Would you rather get a useful gift or a fun gift?

Useful!!! It would make me happy to have a useful gift – so isn’t that fun in a way???

Yes, yes it is – let’s go with that because between my lack of friends and joy of practical gifts, I’m starting to sound like I live a sad little life. lol

Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?

This one is a toughie for me!

I mean…an amazing holiday gift??? What would that be? I can’t imagine what would be so amazing but it’s AMAZING so yay!

But I also like unwrapping gifts so wouldn’t that be amazing in a way??

Either way – I would want them to be from Kevin. He’s a great gift giver and swaps between amazing and smaller, simple gifts and they’re always perfect.

I know some of you have already answered these on the giveaway post (and enter here if you haven’t already!) but if you haven’t yet – let me know your answers.

  1. I did already answer them all ;)

As for the 1700s servant one, I would sure rather be a prim lady then some poor servant, I would like you not keep my mouth shut and be thrown out

    1. You did! And that's what made me want to answer them lol

  2. I don't go in for the whole Christmas thing now. Basically my dad and I veg out in front of the TV watching Big Bash Cricket from Australia, the UK World Darts Championships, dvds, and eat turkey/chicken with stuffing and bread sauce over the festive days!

    1. We don't do much either. Just a small ham, potatoes and veggie and a few small gifts.

  3. Ha. I'm with you on the whole time travel thing. I would so not be cut off for life in 1700. No bueno. I'll take my chances with the future. Surely there would be some perks. :)

    1. I can't imagine I would like it rich or poor.

There have got to be some cool things about the future!

  4. As a brown person, I choose the future. Haha.

  5. Yeah I don't think I could go back in time either. Totally couldn't cut it!

  6. I'll take my chances with the future too. LOL And when it comes to gifts, I like opening things too...so unless this amazing gift is like a fully funded trip or paying off my student loans, I'll take more "okay" gifts, because I'm generally happy with anything...like socks. ;) As for my favorite TV show...I'm not that great with watching things, so I could probably handle only watching it during the holidays. haha

    1. I like small, silly gifts so that would be fine for me too.

  7. My answers would pretty much be the same as yours. I would definitely rather watch my favorite TV show during the holidays and not every day because I hardly ever watch TV. I'd rather read in my free time. So that one would be a no brainer for me.

    1. There really aren't any shows out there that I love enough to watch repeatedly all year so once a year would be fine.

  8. My answers would be pretty similar. Although I don't have many favorite shows, and I am pretty extroverted. The future always sounds better to me.

    1. Oh an extrovert! Definitely not me lol

We're taking our chances with the future but I'd still pick it over the past.

  9. Oh this is FUN! I agree about the 1700 versus 2100. I mean- being prim and proper would be a hellscape in itself, so bring on the new one! I would definitely prefer the friend group Christmas, but I am an extrovert, so that makes more sense. I, um, already DO watch my favorite show almost every day so... I choose The 100 ALL the time hah. And I want the one great gift!

    1. Yeah, all those rules from the 1700's would do me in. lol

  10. I'd probably go with 2100 too- although 1700 would be interesting to observe I'm sure. But 2100 surely has to have some interesting gadgets or something right? Something to do when all the parties and family gatherings get annoying lol.

    1. *observe* like a fly on the all might be fun but only if I could poof out of there (the 1700's) whenever I needed something like a functioning toilet or hot water lol

We're either going to be a fiery wasteland or a cool gadget filled future, I think.

  11. I would likely murder someone in the 1700's. Like you, I don't take shit from people, and I would purposely show off my ankles and maybe even a thigh! I would purposefully be scandalous, because why the hell not? It's my body, whether it's the 1700's or right now. Also, corsets are a form of torture and I really like to breathe. Ankles are a no-no, but let's really get those breasts up there at eye level. No thank you!

There's not much I could handle back then so I think I'm safer int he future lol

  12. What a fun post. I think I would go with the futuristic Christmas myself. I rarely watch tv so thats easy for me. I would take group of friends over celebrities any time, and one fantastic gift because I don’t need a bunch of stuff that I don’t want tor need.

  13. I think I answered just the 1700 or future questions with, future, but here are the rest: not a celebrity person so I guess its friends (though I only have my husband as my bestie), practical gift (its embarrassing how excited I got when my husband got me a new dryer even though he would rather have got me something else one year), probably one fantastic gift, and I don't have a favorite TV show so either would be fine. :)

Fun to see your answers, Karen!

    1. It seems that no one wants to hang with the celebrities! That kind of surprised me even though I wouldn't either.

  14. I’d choose Christmas in the future! I’m not a proper lady, and I’ve spent summers in places with no electricity or plumbing. It’s not pleasant. I could not survive 1700. I’d rather have useful gifts, too. I don’t have space to keep anything that’s not useful.

  15. I'd much prefer a useful gift, too. I have gotten some fun gifts over the years, and they just end up sitting in a closet collecting dust.

  18. Haha, I'm with you on all of these. Especially about that celebrity one. NO THANKS!

  19. Hmmm... Yeah, I agree with you on these. Especially Christmas in 2100 as opposed to 1700. The 1700's weren't fun and Christmas trees weren't even a thing then. :(

    1. I'm not a good rule follower so they would probably hang me or something back then lol

  20. Aw. Kevin is such a treasure - if I hadn't met him I'd think he was like your imaginary perfect husband. Maybe he has a few teensy flaws but don't tell me!!!!

  22. I'm someone who loves my privacy too Karen, I like staying home without people popping in and bothering me. That's why online friends are perfect, most readers especially seem to feel the same. I prefer to receive something useful too! I think being a practical person, I like to have use for everything. This year I'm hoping for a new tablet to make my blogging easier so I don't have to lug the laptop around the house.
