A few odds & ends from my week so far...
I was looking for Fonzi’s favorite treats and stumbled upon these hilariously packaged treats from Granville Island Pet Treatery.

My adventures in baking went slightly off course this week. It’s fruit and berry season in the PNW and I picked up fresh apricots and cherries from the farmers market to make my favorite galette recipe that I haven’t had in years.
It sprung a leak in the pastry crust once it hit the oven and all the juices leaked out but it was still delicious.

I’m no stranger to romance and reading sex scenes. I barely bat an eye but listening to them???
I all of a sudden turn into a blushing maiden and act like I've never heard dirty words before & I'm convinced my car speakers can be heard by the entire parking lot. lol

Bwah hahahah!!! I have this exact problem with audiobooks too! I'll read the smuttiest of smut when inclined but listen to something moderately steamy (cause I listen in the car too) and my brain is scandalised!
ReplyDeleteI've solved the 'problem' by listening to the kid's Rick Riordan books as my audio's... No sex in Riordan's books... Nope. Safe car listening. :)
I think I'd probably be okay with UF too as sex is less frequent (and usually less graphic) in those than in PNR/Contemporary.
I don't really like romance on audio for some reason but I like the narrator for this one series I'm reading. But yeah...sexy times make me feel like a blushing virgin lol
Deletelol, I always have to turn the sound way down during love scenes. Even when I'm driving on the highway. Also, I need to get some of those "I'm gassy, sorry" treats!

DeleteHahaha, sometimes the new adult listening can be hard! I can't listen to new adult romance reads :P I have to read them in a book because I cringe too much. Those fresh fruits look fantastic :)

DeleteIt seems like many of the romance books I listen to cause me to break out in fits of hysterical laughter during the sex scenes. Some of the stuff they say is just too much.

DeleteI love when all the fruits are in season here. So much goodness. I totally get what you mean about listening to those sex scenes, I tend to try and fast forward them, the get to be too much on audio.
ReplyDeleteI skim a bit when I read them but I feel like they are usually important in some ways though. That's when the big emotional confessions happen or a turning point for the relationship but...eeeee I need to get used to it lol

DeleteI wish I could still blush! I suppose I would blush if I thought my (adult) son had heard, though. That's why I can never figure out how people watched Game of Thrones with their teen and adult kids. I could never do that. 😱
