June was another good reading month for me!
12 books read – still below average but much better than my 2-5 books per month since the move.
My favorite was the Dreamers series by Adriana Herrera. I listened to the first two books on audio and it was just what I was in the mood for. Complex characters & (sweet) relationships with solid HEA’s.
As Kismet Would Have It by Sandhya Menon was super short but it was so nice to check back in with Dimple & Rishi.
Half the Sugar All the Love by Jennifer Tyler Lee was a Netgalley book (releases in December) that shows you how to reduce added sugars without resorting to artificial sweetners or even honey, agave etc. Review on Goodreads
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young wasn’t exactly what I was expecting (or hoping for) but I enjoyed it anyway, for the most part – my review
The Girl in Red by Christina Henry was a big disappointment for me but most readers loved it so carry on and read it lol – my review
I enjoyed the rest of the books but would put them all at 3.5/4 stars. Good and would recommend but not WOW books.
Death Prefers Blondes by Caleb Roehrig is on there but I need to move it to July because I still haven’t cracked it open yet. That damn book has been on my TBR pile every month for 6 months now! JULY IS THE MONTH I READ IT.

2019 Reading Challenge
Karen has
read 40 books toward
her goal of
50 books.
I set my goal low this year and boy am I glad I did! I usually read somewhere between 140-200 books but I'm not sure where I'll land this year. Probabaly 100-ish
July Goals….
No idea.
I’m down to about 50 physical books, really loving audiobooks and using the library more & more. It’s super freeing and I have no planned reading because of it.
What should I be adding to my list for July?
Every Heart A Doorway is still on my TBR lol! You're doing great with your goal though!!
ReplyDeleteI'm finally back on track. I think. Lol
DeleteYay for 12 books! Sounds like you're settling into a routine again. :) I really need to use my library more... but they are building a new one, so when it's completed it's gonna be awesome and new and I'll definitely be motivated to check it out and spend some time there lol.
ReplyDeleteI only use it for ebooks/audio. I'm too lazy to go there and I'm weird about touching the used books lol
DeleteWell there is that. Sometimes books are in ROUGH shape and I'm like- what germs am I getting from these lol?
DeleteI am worried about Red, but I still do want it :)
ReplyDeleteFor July you should try..ehh...no idea
I'm winging it and it's great!
DeleteI'll be reading Red White and Royal Blue soon! You should add The Right Swipe, Marriage for One, Fix Her Up!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I started Fix Her Up last night! & I didn't realize Right Swipe was out. I'll check out Marriage for One.
DeleteIt looks like you are getting back into the swing of things with the reading. I hope you get better reading done as summer moves on!
ReplyDeleteAudiobooks have really changed things for me - I always have something going on there while reading another book.
DeleteNo planned reading sounds pretty dang good. Yay for getting a lot of books read in June! I definitely plan on checking out the Dreamers series. :)

I hope (& think) you will love it!
DeleteYou're doing pretty good. I don't have anything planned at this time.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading more but I feel super chill about it which is great!
DeleteI hadn't heard about As Kismet Would Have It and had no idea there was a short story or novella out, I'll have to check it out! You seem as though you're really enjoying your reading or audiobooks at the moment Karen which is brilliant to see! I'm listening to my first audiobook at the moment too and enjoying it much more than I'd expected to.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know either until it popped up in my suggested books on Libby. It's SUPER short but good.
Deleteit took me almost 2 years to hit my groove with audio. I always got distracted to easily.
I have definitely become a fan of audiobooks. It's been a great way for me to try new authors and get through my backlist. I have to check out the Dreamers series. Everyone is raving. They have them on Hoopla, so it's very doable.
ReplyDeleteHoopla and Libby were complete game changers for me. Between the two I almost always have a book I'm interested in available and with the audio I have one going all the time - while reading another.
DeleteI adore audiobooks! I listen to them almost constantly. I've been wanting to check out Every Heart a Doorway. Hopefully I can get to it soon!
ReplyDeleteIt's taken me almost 2 years to be able to listen to audiobooks. I still have some trouble with certain genres or narrators but I almost always have one going now.
DeleteSorry The Girl in Red didn't work for you. I'm going to go check out your review to see why it wasn't for you. I've been looking forward to that one, so I'm curious. :-)

I wouldn't worry about it - everyone I know LOVED it. I think I was a victim of expectation and hype.
DeleteYay 12 books! At least they were mostly good, even if none blew you away. Better than mostly bad lol.
ReplyDeleteExactly! lol
Delete12 books is a great total for June! Well done. I'm still aiming for 1 audiobook a month... They're still not my favourite but I'm slowly finding a place for them. Reading what you want instead of what you need to read is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI saw a lot of readers who didn't quite like The Girl in Red early on when the ARC first came out on NetGalley, which seemed liked ages before it published. That's why I didn't request it, so your not totally alone in your opinion. 👍✨
