My Monday Musings....on a Wednesday

Waves hi!!!!  I’ve been busy with the big move (we bought a house) but I’m finally settled in. Mostly – there’s still some unpacking/organizing to do but all the big stuff is done.

As soon as I had time to sit still, I promptly fell asleep lol So not much reading or anything like that has been going on. I am a little farther from shopping now so I’m trying to get back to audiobooks for the drive and at attempting catch up commenting on blogs.

I was hoping this meant that Figment was going to fill in for me and draft a few posts while I took a break but no such luck lol

I started Sick Kids in Love by Hannah Moskowitz and I am struggling with the narration. There are 2 pov’s but then an interview segment (one of the characters writes a column – thanks Sam from We Live and Breathe Books for explaining this to me!) and it’s never clear when it’s jumping from Isabel and Sasha to questioning these random people. Plus, the narrator’s voice change for these people is so subtle that I’m always baffled before I catch up. I do really love Isabel and Sasha & their story though (and I can't find this at the library except for audio) so I’m going to stick with it and hope it smooths out soon.

My copy of Queen of Nothing should be arriving tomorrow! It’s late because Amazon had my pre-order listed under the old January release date and never updated it. I noticed it hadn’t been shipped yet and fixed it but it meant not getting Thursday

I am SUPER nervous about reading this one. I’ve pretty much given up in series because of shitty endings and TBH I don’t even know HOW I want this one to end so yeah…scared lol

I squeezed one very short Christmas novella in – Mr. Right Now by Annabeth Albert. It was a very sweet, slow burn romance with enough holiday references to get me in a festive mood.

Coming up:

I have a lunch tomorrow with the wive's from Kevin's new workplace to plan their Christmas  party. It's causing me much stress. I do not like socializing. lol

Fonzi goes for his follow up ultrasound on Friday to see if those meds dissolved the gunk in his gallbladder or if he needs to have it removed.

I guess next week is Thanksgiving already! so I might as well just take a little more time off while everyone is busy as well and catch up on some reading so I actually have something to blog about.

I am joining in with Caffeinated Book Reviewer’s Black Friday Book Bonanza Giveaway running November 29- December 2nd. My giveaway will be international so check back then!

I will also be celebrating my TEN YEAR blogoversary next month. I really wanted to do something big and celebrate all month but I’m wiped from the move so I’ll probably just post another giveaway. Which is probably better than me blathering on for a month about my life as a blogger lol

Anyway….that’s what’s going on in my neck of the woods for now.

Feel free to put a link on the comments if I missed a post you would like me to read or let me know what you’ve been up to.

Any good Christmas movies on Hallmark or Netflix?? Anything I should be watching/reading/listening to?

  1. I think Figment is plotting a way to get rid of your blogging equipment, or maybe just wondering how you can neglect him for it at times 😂.

Christmas party? Oh, poor you. Can I step in? I'd like to get the chance of leaving the house and having company for a change...

SENDING ALL THE GOOD VIBES TO FONZI!

Two giveaways? Woo-hoo! Though I would have gladly read a celebratory post. Ten years are a HUGE milestone!

  2. I am still baffled that the narrator did read the heading for the newspaper column portions. I would be a little mixed up too. I think something similar happened to me with another book (maybe Everything, Everything), and when I looked at the physical book, it made so much more sense. I hope you can enjoy Sick Kids despite the bits of confusion, but it's really a wonderful story.

    1. It is SUPER confusing. It just rolls into these other narratives & I don't know what they are until they get going. I'm getting used to it but I really wish the library had a physical book.

  3. I have to say, I am a little perturbed that the "wives" at his work have to plan the Christmas party. One, why do you have to do it, you don't work there! Two, are there no women in this place? What about LGBT folks? I have so many questions, too many for a blog comment but I mean, if you need excuses to get out of this, I am CLEARLY your girl 😂

Congrats on the move, and being mostly settled, too! Hope everything goes well with Fonzi, too! And TEN YEARS!??! That is incredible! Huge congrats!! Hope Queen of Nothing ends well- series enders are so STRESSFUL my goodness!

    1. I am with you on all of that! And Kevin's boss is a woman and is going to the lunch & not her husband O_O. The admin (a woman) put this together and everyone yelled at her so I doubt it will ever be phrased this way again lol And I guess it used to be everyone not just wives. I'm not going to the Christmas party so this is my - here I did something participation award moment. Kevin told me not to go to any of it off I didn't want to. He doesn't care at all.

  5. oOOH, yeah. Making the wives plan a company party? That's so not a good idea and should be the office manager's job. I hope it went well for you and was over quickly.

    1. The admin is planning the party but she usually has a get together to discuss what we want to eat, games and then plan a charity lunch thing they do. But everyone usually goes so it's weird. But everyone (including the husbands) balked about it.

  7. Yay to the move in being completed, and getting all moved in! I've been fighting a cold myself, so book reading has been slow moving. I have had lots of time to watch Christmas movies though.(lol) Happy Friyay! RO

    1. I've been busy and lazy. Weird combination.

Not great news for Fonzi but we're not sure on the path forward yet.

  9. Still curious how Figment did with this second move. 😊

Have a good time reading the new Holly Black. I haven't seen any reviews for it yet. 🔰

    1. Great!! I did drug him for the drive over because the movers were close behind and he had to be locked in a room while they brought everything in. He loves all the windows!

  10. I suspect Figment is actually writing his own blog!!
Congrats on getting all moved in and I hope you can get some quality relaxation time soon. It sounds like you need a break. Perhaps you could pretend to be British because we don't have Thanksgiving so that would take the pressure off a bit?!

    1. I REALLY need him to help with this one lol

It's just my husband and I so Thanksgiving is pretty low key, thankfully.

I just haven't felt like doing much at all. Could be the weather. I just moved her from FL and this is my first real winter in decades. i want to hibernate lol

  11. For some reason, I have tried several Hannah M books and none has worked with my brain - I always love the concept but, like you, have struggled with the narrative structure.

  12. Yay for moving house and it's totally understandable you've been exhausted after moving. I'd say a little down time is good but with unpacking and everything you've probably not had chance to stop. I hope you're all settled in now. My preorder of Queen of Nothing arrived and I'm trying to psych myself up for a reread of the series as I've forgotten everything!

Good luck to Fonzi! And hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving.

    1. It's nice to finally unpack and be able to permanently put things away. It's been weird mostly living out of boxes for the past few months.

  14. I'm glad you're moving into the house and getting settled okay. I'm taping all the Christmas movies on Hallmark and Lifetime, etc. There have been some fun ones, but I have more taped than I've watched. LOL I want to read Mr. Right Now - glad you liked it .

  15. If only they could take over tasks for us like that. :) Yay for getting your house and getting moved in. I'd be exhausted and falling asleep all the time, too. Hope your Fonzi's meds do work out. The Sick Kids looks like a good one, but sounds like one I'll need to do in print with all those switches.

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving, Karen!

  16. Hey if it's any consolation, I'm still playing catch up from being a shitty blogger/busy human throughout November and I sincerely thank you for being an easy one to catch up with! lol.

I'm glad you're getting settled into the new place. I'm stalking Queen of Nothing reviews trying to work out if the romance ship sails into the sunset with some form of HEA otherwise I may decide not to bother reading the entire trilogy. I bought book one and two on 99p sales so I haven't invested much yet... Beyond almost two years of saying "I need to read those!"

Sick Kids in Love I AM excited about and will read once the ebook price becomes something sensible.

Hope the planning lunch went well! I don't like socialising either and there's been so much of it lately! I'm looking forward to Christmas holiday vegetation!
