Resolving: To try to find some sense of normalcy and routine at our new place. I’m still feeling a little disoriented after the move. Like where is my reading spot? What tea do I drink when it’s cold, rainy & windy? Important things that need resolving in 2020 lol
Reading: I just finished Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter words by Tara Sivec and Andi Arndt & I’m listening to Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan
Cleaning: EVERYTHING! As most of you know, Fonzi had surgery the day after Christmas and has to stay quiet for 2 weeks so we’ve been home on Fonzi watch. It kind of sucks because Kevin was on vacation and we couldn’t really go anywhere but we got a LOT done sorting and cleaning the new house. We made our finished basement a game/workout space, arranged and organized my bookshelves and sorted through all our paperwork that got messed up after the move. Most things are in right rooms now even though I still need more shelving so things have a permanent home.
Creating: Not a lot of creating going on right now because not all of my stuff was unpacked and most of my crafting stuff was left behind in the move. My plan is to reupholster a few chair seats, a bench and maybe shop our local vintage/thrift shops and try my hand at framing some prints if I can find something fun. Our walls are looking pretty bland.
Planning: We’re planning on checking out our local natural food store. It’s citrus fest and they always have the most amazing produce out here (the PNW). Apple Fest had so any varieties that I couldn’t even get to them all. I’m not supposed to have citrus because of the acidity so this should be fun. Ha! I’m also planning on trying to post more regularly here. Book reviewing is less and less appealing to me and I would love to mix in more personal posts or features (like this one) for variety.
Happy New Year everyone! This was the view from my house on January 1st. So pretty and hopeful.
What are you currently resolving, reading, cleaning, creating, planning?
Congratulations on your new house! Is Fonzi your Sheltie? I hope your pet is getting back to normal. Love the rainbow pic! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYes. (his pic is on my sidebar). He's getting there!
DeleteThat's an amazing view from your home. What great shot! That was a book move you did. I have always lived somewhere on the east coast, so no major changes. I am glad to hear you are enjoying so many of the things that the PNW has to offer.
ReplyDeleteIt was so weird. There were actually 3 rainbows but all around us was dark grey skies and rain. I was in a little bubble of sunshine and rainbows.
DeleteI honestly never knew how many apple varieties existed until I moved to the PNW! Back in So Cal, I ate basically one kind, now I have a favorite {Honey Crisp}, but I enjoy so many different ones!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in New England and lived in Western WA where there are a lot of apple orchards and old time varieties but WA is next level lol
DeleteHugs to everyone! Happy New Year. And I hope the year will b great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda - back at ya!
Delete"My plan is to reupholster a few chair seats, a bench and maybe shop our local vintage/thrift shops and try my hand at framing some prints if I can find something fun."
ReplyDeleteYou know how to do these thing?!? How come I've been knowing you for more than 7 years now, and I keep uncovering new sides of you? LOL.
I hope Fonzi's on a steady way to recovery and his biopsy comes out clean. Then...maybe you'll be allowed to sleep LOL. I also hope that rainbow was a good omen...and it can rub off on us some!
I can do simple reupholstering - like a chair seat lol I have never been vintage/thrift shopping but it's a huge thing out here so I'll give it a go.
DeleteSleep is...elusive. lol I am getting more but we haven't hot our old routine yet.
I'm so glad to hear that Fonzi is recovering from the surgery. Fingers crossed that the worst is over for the poor guy now and that there will be less stress for you this year.
ReplyDeleteHe's doing well! A few more days to go for the sutures to come out and then he can get back to normal.
DeleteI'm glad that Fonzi seems to be doing well.
ReplyDeleteHe is!
DeleteOoh citrus fest, sounds yummy! I hope Fonzi keeps recovering well <3
ReplyDeleteIt really kicks off next week but there were a lot of varieties arriving at the stores this week.
DeleteCool picture! I agree, it looks pretty and hopeful. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all up for reading posts on things that aren't book related. I love the random posts and other updates.
Glad Fonzi is doing ok and that the biopsies were clear! Fingers crossed for the rest of his recovery.
I need to post about....anything...at this point lol I feel so lazy about it.
DeleteI hope you find your staple tea, because you've got a lot of cold, rainy, and windy days ahead of you!
ReplyDeleteI hope Fonzi is doing well, poor guy.

That's what someone said to me when I first got here - find your winter drink. Then you can look forward to it and have it all winter.
DeleteThose really are important things - hope you find your favorite new reading spot soon :) Happy 2020, and thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteWe just got a new sofa with a cuddler section and I think that's the spot!
DeleteHappy New Year! Beautiful pic. I feel like with a move like you had- across country- and then the Fonzi stuff, I'd be totally discombobulated lol so you're probably doing better than you think you are. :) Speaking of, I hope Fonzi is doing better.
ReplyDeleteI get bored just doing book stuff sometimes so I say go for it- mix in other stuff if it keeps blogging fresh.
You're right - it's been one thing after another and some of it has been good but still distracting and some stressful so it's hard to find my footing.
DeleteBeautiful photo - and Happy New Year! I love that you want to mix up your posts and not just do book reviews. I find it makes blogging a bit easier sometimes - and it's fun! I love reading all types of posts. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope that Fonzi is doing okay. That's great you were able to get a lot organized though!

Happy New Year Lauren!!!
DeleteHe's doing better and on the plus side we did get a LOT done.
It’s gotta be so disconcerting to make such a drastic move. All routines and sense of normalcy is out the window. I hope you manage to start finding some new normals this year.
ReplyDeleteHook Shot was so good. I loved finally getting Kenan’s story.
It really is! I'm too old for it lol
DeleteIt's always a bit chaotic after moving to a new place and I hope you will enjoy settling in, finishing the unpacking and cleaning, and making your own routine of things! And hopefully those books turn out to be good ones to start the year with :)
ReplyDeleteI'm getting there!
DeleteHappy New Year Olivia!
I love these posts and I hope that Fonzi is feeling good! I need to incorporate some "new" into my blog this year too. All the reviews are making feel "eh".
ReplyDeleteYeah - reviewing is...the least interesting thing to me right now lol
DeleteI love this feature! I've had an itch to be crafty for a few weeks now, and have even contemplated buying a sewing machine (still need to crochet you that blanket, too). I've been out in the garage with Jacob and woodworking! I'm making something! With wood and machinery that will likely sever an appendage, so there's that... I can't wait until it's finished. Have you seen the show Making It? I think you and Kevin would LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI hope Fonzi is doing okay, and Figment isn't bullying him too much. Kudos for organizing and finding a place for everything. I'm about to jump ship and get in your boat. *cries* Throw me a lifesaver? Wait, that's a candy... Life preserver? Does it preserve my life? Right? I'm confusing myself now. It's late. Need sleep!
PS: Andy Arndt is one of my all-time favorite narrators.

I saw your posts - what are you making?
DeleteHappy New Year, and I was happy to see that Fonzi is doing well when I peeked at Twitter. I will be over on Instagram later today. 👍✨
ReplyDeleteHe is! He goes to the vet tomorrow to get his sutures out and a final exam so I hope we can all get back to normal after that.
DeleteI just love all of these goals Karen!!! And so many unique ideas are bettering yourself and doing more with your home!!! Hope you get plenty of planning and crafting this month!!
