Both Kevin and I ended up with COVID last week. For him it started as congestion and mine started with headaches for 2 days. We both assumed allergies because we had been working in the yard and felt fine otherwise and tested negative. Day 3 he got full body, uncontrollable shaking. At first I thought he was exaggerating being cold and laughed because it was so over-the-top but he was FREEZING. Luckily that didn't last very long. I had the fever, body aches and felt like my skin was super tender. but only for one night.
My biggest fear getting COVID was the cough and breathing issues since I already have problems with asthma and my esophagus. Luckily neither was bad for me. It was no more than a flu but it was weird. The symptoms (joint pain, things tasting weird, fatigue) & severity changed daily. We're mostly fine a week later but get tired easily.
So anyway...needless to say we were stuck home and watched a lot of television 😂
Obi-Wan - Disney+: not a huge Star Wars fan and a lot of the Easter egg/fan references/gripes go right over my head but I'm enjoying this one so far. Particularly, young Princess Leia. She's feisty and adorable.
Stranger Things S4 - Netflix: This was a super bleak season. I'm not sure how many more times I can watch El (11) being bullied/tortured/hurt. I felt like we've seen most of it before anyway and it didn't have to drag out the way it did. Same with Hopper. BUT - the payoff and overall vibe of the season was very good. This was a big love letter to 80's horror - especially Nightmare on Elm Street & Carrie and we finally got answers to several big questions.
My tolerance of people (especially kids) being bullied in entertainment is low these days. It's just not what I feel like seeing but I did enjoy the season.
El better get a HEA though. And I'm pretty fearful for Steve...
Better Call Saul - Netflix/AMC: We watched S1 and part of S2 when it was on but somehow lost track over the years. The final season started airing on AMC a few months ago and I thought I would wiki what happened and watch just the last season. Then COVID and we had plenty of time on our hands so restarted at S2 and we're all caught up to S6. It's a really great show with brilliant acting and I'm loving how it's tying in to Breaking Bad.
Doctor Strange - theatre: I don't really like Doctor Strange or multiverse stories but I LOVE Wanda so we went to see it for her character. Worth it! She's complicated and while you can't condone anything she does, you get it and want to wrap her in a protective hug and give her something to live for. And the multiverse stuff wasn't all that bad either so - win.
Monster Hunter - Starz: This was a Kevin pick about the military (led by Mila Jovavich) falling through a portal in the universe to a world with monsters. It had a few decent moments but 👎 Even Kevin didn't like it and he likes almost all those kinds of movies lol
Venom: Let There Be Carnage - Starz: I have no idea why but I love this franchise. It's kind of balls to the wall ridiculous but it has heart and I like it.
More life news: AKA: I'm getting old
I also FINALLY started my physical therapy for my hurt shoulder. If you follow me on Twitter, you know all about the insurance approval paperwork saga. It's been 2 months now since I injured it. Good news is it doesn't seem like a tear (can't know for sure without an MRI) but the bad news is it seems like it's cartilage which never fully heals. Combined with my arthritis and bone spurs - any inflammation aggravates the area. We're taking a conservative approach since I still have full range of motion but I won't be able to work out (weights) or do things like throw/lift heavy objects for close to a year. And I have even worse arthritis on my other, non-injured shoulder. So yay lol
What have you all been up to? Reading? Watching?
*Blogger commenting is the WORST right now. I am getting your comments (most of them anyway - I think) but they are going to spam so give me a day or two to notice and break them out of spam jail or just let me know you left a comment and I'll try to look sooner. I do check several days a week!
Sorry you got COVID too. Corey and I were exposed on Sunday by his dad. I just took a test and it said that i was negative. I hope it stays that way. Only time will tell, I guess. I'm glad you're starting to feel better.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too! We had it for days without even knowing. Kevin had to go to work so he kept testing and then it hit.
DeleteWe always wear masks and don't go many places so hopefully we didn't spread it unknowingly.
Oh, I'm sorry you both got Covid. It's such a weird sickness because it really can change A TON day by day. I'm glad you're both doing okay at the moment though and hopefully all will be well! Yay for PT though!
ReplyDeleteI'm so bad at watching things - there are a lot of movies and shows I really want to check out; just hard to make time. lol
Lauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
We had nothing but time lol It was more a matter of staying awake.
DeleteThe symptoms are wild. Kevin and I were totally different!
Oh no, sorry to hear about both you and Kevin with Covid. :( The range and severity of symptoms is crazy. And it seems to effect everyone so differently. Bizarre. I'm so glad you're doing better. That's lousy news about the shoulder. Will they do an MRI to rule out a tear?
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy. Kevin and I didn't have any of the same symptoms., they changed daily and is be fine thinking it was over and then boom. So unpredictable.
DeleteI probably won't do an MRI yet and see what therapy does first. In general there's no pain- only if I move one specific way (and then it's yowza!) But it's most likely inevitable. Once you have an injury in more likely to hurt it again.
Covid is so weird because everyone can have different symptoms, it can be deadly for some and not for others, we don't really understand long Covid. *shakes head* Anyway... glad it was relatively mild for you guys. I had that full body shaking once (not Covid but wicked chills) and it was NOT fun.
ReplyDeleteI need to start Obi-Wan. I've been busy with Stranger Things and a couple other shows and just haven't yet. I agree about Stranger Things, by the way. SUPER bleak. The bullying- yup.And you're right- very reminiscent of stuff like Nightmare on Elm street!
I haven't seen Strange yet. I want to see Morbius too which is Marvel but through Sony I guess (?)- it kinda came and went from theaters so not sure if it's good. I reviewed some of the comics a while back so curious about the show...
Hope your PT goes well. Insurance *shakes head* My cousin has rheumatoid arthritis really bad and she really suffers with it. I feel for anyone who goes through similar things.
It wasn't worse (or even as bad as) the flu but it was weirder and we had scary moments that luckily passed quickly but I know several people who died and my niece has heart problems from almost 2 years ago.
DeleteMy MIL has rheumatoid arthritis and that's a whole other, much worse thing. Mine is mild right now. I didn't even know so hopefully it won't be a problem in the near future.
Sorry the virus got you, but I am glad to hear it wasn't so bad and your are on the mend. My dad and I had no respiratory symptoms either (he is a lung cancer survivor and I have asthma). We were lucky.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that. It was my greatest fear. Any kind of coughing aggravates my esophageal issues and I can't take most things that you would to help.
DeleteI'm very tired this week but ok.
Glad you are feeling better finally. As you know we were dealing with COVID, too. Luckily both my daughter and I had very mild cases. Like you, she has respiratory concerns, which was always my fear of her getting it. But thankfully it was like a moderate head cold. She had body aches and a headache for two days at the start; I had neither. We watched a lot of TV. I'm with you on ST4. Overall, I liked it, but I'm tired of much of what you expressed. I loved last season because it mostly was a group adventure - much more fun!
ReplyDeleteUgh - now my reply vanished!
DeleteIt's always better when the gang is together for ST. And I thought their individual storylines could have been wrapped up much faster but oh well. I was happy with the reveals and I hope the end will be great now that all of it is out of the way.
I'm glad you are better. I think we will all have gotten Covid before too long. I had it in January and it was not fun being sick for a month.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad. I had never watched neither of those and liked both of them. I'm watching Gilmore Gilr snow.
It does feel like that doesn't it? I keep getting tired easily but otherwise ok.
DeleteWe had watched Breaking Bad and I love how it's coming full circle. Have you watched El Camino about Jessie yet? I think we'll try to watch that after we're full caught up with Saul but before the finale next month.
I'm sorry to hear you were sick! Glad you're doing better. I'm looking forward to Stranger Things 4, though I need to finish my re-watch of 3 first. Good luck with your physical therapy!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm still getting tired easily but hopefully that will go away.
DeleteCommenting on my phone seems to work, sigh
ReplyDeleteObi wan is good!
Covid booo. I took a few tests in May but nothing, but I totally lost sense of smell and working on 50% still
I show up as anonymous from my phone - even on my own blog and I'm signed in lol
DeleteKevin tested negative 3 times before testing positive. I still get REALLY tired every few days
I hope you're feeling better! I'm currently re-watching Stranger Things so I can remember what happened before I get to the new season.
ReplyDeleteI'm still tired but mostly good. I always forget everything so I should rewatch lol
DeleteCovid has to be one of the strangest viruses around... No two people are affected the same! Glad you're both on the mend.
ReplyDeleteI really want to watch Obi-Wan. I just need to be in the mind frame to sit and watch it which is the challenge for me on pretty much everything these days, lol.
I thought Doctor Strange was really good though. I didn't like the first one but this one was so much better. (And I was pretty much convinced to go to the cinema to watch it for Wanda... She rules.)
Another one I saw at the cinema lately was Top Gun: Maverick and I LOVED it! I thought it was so much better than the first and packed a nice emotional punch alongside the fly boys and their fighter jet toys. :)
It is!!! And I get wiped out so easily even 2 weeks later.
DeleteHope you like Obi-Wan. We started Ms. Marvel and it was cute but I'm not hooked. I'll try at least 1-2 more episodes though. I liked the graphic novels.
Ugh, sorry you caught the plague. 😔 I didn't have any lung issues either, only upper respiratory and severe nausea. The severe nausea for 2+ weeks is what did me in, and the headaches. 😛 I hope your fatigue goes away quickly. I had fatigue for about a month afterwards. 😞
ReplyDeleteI used to get cortisone shots in my shoulders until my cardiologist decided it was exacerbating my heart problems. I thought they worked really well though. 👍
I hope you've been having a better week. 🌞
COVID wasn't fun but it didn't feel too severe when I had it so I was hoping that was it. Guess not.
DeleteThe physical therapy seems to be helping so far but she said it could take a year to fully heal. We'll see. Kind of bummed to hear I already have arthritis (confirmed because I already suspected in other parts of my body) but I have to surrender to getting older lol
Ugh, so sorry about the COVID. I noticed that my asthma was not exacerbated at all by either bout of COVID, so that is good news for us both going forward (since I imagine we'll just keep getting it forever at this point, heh). Glad you are both doing better now! I am also sorry about your shoulder. I have shoulder crap from swimming, and it just kind of comes and goes, I am sure it will get worse, too. Like La La, I have done the cortisone thing, to get through my senior year of college swim season- but I can't imagine it is good for long term, ugh. Hopefully the PT helps, my fingers are crossed!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched any of the stuff that you have, but I have heard similar complaints about ST4- why does every show seem dead set on destroying itself? I do not understand!
I was very happy it didn't effect my breathing or throat but not falling asleep by 10am would be nice too lol
DeleteSo far, the therapy seems to be helping but is way tougher on me than I was expecting. Could be post covid tiredness though because it doesn't seem like much when I'm doing it.
I'm glad it didn't give you serious breathing problems, but it sucks to be sick regardless. Sorry about the shoulder too. At least you've found lots of stuff to watch!
ReplyDeleteInsurance stresses me out so much. Sorry it took so long to see your PT!
ReplyDeleteI was reading an article about whether or not home tests meant anything anymore. Someone had covid symptoms but kept testing neg so she continued to live her life. She took a test in preparation or seeing her parents and tested positive. She was starting to feel better at that point too!
