In the garden...
I love Penstemon - or I should say - hummingbirds love Penstemon and I want more hummingbirds so I try to plant more Penstemon. Most varieties are some range of pink, purple, reds - so I was excited to find "Electric Blue" Penstemon.
It's such a beautiful pop of color. I've had it three years but never in the right place I guess, for maximum flowering. I moved it last fall and I think I hit the jackpot this year. I got a bit of a surprise being able to see the buds before the bloom and I have to say that I think the rainbow/hombre effect might be even prettier than the actual bloom!
They are beautiful both opened and closed. I have never seen this flower before. Hope it does the trick and attracts lots of critters
ReplyDeleteAll the ones I've seen/had were purple or red. It really pops in the garden. The hummingbirds love it but I'm still hoping for butterflies π€
DeletePretty color. I love butterflies- we get a few fluttering through but having a garden that actually attracts them...
ReplyDeleteI used to have - no exaggeration- hundreds, in all stages... from egg, pupae, to emerging. I'm doing my damdest to lure them in here lol
DeleteWow. That's amazing
DeleteOkay I watched the first free episode of Silo. Pretty good. I'm watrching Foundation now. I think I'm going to have to do the free trial and finish Silo.
Ooh, please let me know when you're caught up! We're enjoying it but had a few quibbles (don't I always?? Lol)
DeleteWe saw Foundation too, although my memory of that one isn't so great. It was awhile ago.
Also, I'm not sure you'll have time but For All Mankind is great too. Takes a bit to get hooked but there's a great hook/premise.
DeleteI didn't like Foundation. Didn't even make it through the first episode lol. Silo is good though. I'm gonna get the free trial and binge it and maybe All Mankind too. Shannon raved about that.
DeleteI know I didn't really like it much. Kevin liked it more (Foundation). If for some reason you don't like FAM right away - stick with it. We restarted it several times before getting hooked. It seems like a straightforward space show and it is...but it isn't lol
DeleteI've never seen that flower before but it's so pretty. I love seeing butterflies.
ReplyDeleteHummingbirds really love them. This is such a pretty, unusual color. I miss my butterflies :-(
DeleteBlue is my favorite color, so I love this! We have severe summer heat in Texas already, so my flowers are needing a ton of water to stay alive.
ReplyDeleteIt's an unusual color in the garden. I remember gardening in the FL heat! We're going up and down here (wa) 60's-90's lol
DeleteOoo... I'm sharing this post to my Fairy Flora Garden Pinterest board. It's gorgeous! π
ReplyDeleteMay I also share your post to myToadstone & Bumbershoot Facebook page? π
DeleteYes, of course! (& thank you for sharing)
DeleteGorgeous! I can see why hummingbirds would love them.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a magnet to them.
DeleteWow, this flower is gorgeous! I've been trying to plant some things that will bring butterflies and hummingbirds to the yard, but I haven't been so great at getting them growing yet.
ReplyDeleteSalvias are a really easy plant to grow that attract both. Also add in a few herbs like parsley or dill if you want to see the egg to caterpillar phase.
DeleteA butterfly bush will draw them all in too if you have more space.
Whoa how gorgeous! I love the ombre!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it cool looking??!!
